Default '95 GSR Header/Exhaust Question

Ok i know this question has prolly been covered MANY times. But i can't seem to search the right topics to get this answered correctly...

I have a 95 gsr. Stock header/cat. I have a 2.25" Thermal R&D exhaust (that i love). Im in the market for a hybrid header (like headertech, smsp.. those kind). Looking for a used one (so if u have a used header email me at integerkgsr@yahoo.com w/ ur price). Anywho...

My question is i dont have money or want to spend it on a full new exhaust. How much modding will it take...or WILL this header even fit my gsr? i know my hear has a smaller header than the rest. And most those header's have a 2.5"/3" collector. And i'd have to find a test pipe or something to go to 2.25" which will be difficult. ALso will i have to cut some of my exhaust near the cat to have this header fit?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Eric

since the header is hybrid it is much longer and will not fit onto your stock catalytic converter since the collecter on the header is 2.5". You would have to modify your cat and b-pipe to do it. Plus the 2.25 inch pipe diameter of the exhaust would limit the gains of the 2.5" collecter header.

So basically It will fit. But i will have no cat-converter anymore and have to get a pipe custom made to connect the header to the exhaust? i live in MI w/ no emission laws so thats straight. and i know 2.5>2.25 isn't the greatest but i dont have money for a full new exhaust.

It will fit, you can run a test pipe and a modified b-pipe, have an exhaust shop fix it all up for you.

You could run a catalytic converter, but a test pipe would save you money. Maybe you should save up and do it all at once so you wont have to to pay for installation and fitting twice, unless you can weld yourself.

Are you planning to run different cams or do any other internal work in the future??

If your answer is no, don't bother spending the extra $$$ on a hybrid header. Look into getting something like a Comptech 4-2-1 header instead.

Yeah i've come to the conclusion that im going to go w/ the JDM ITR header. I got a good price on a 96-97 spec 4-2-1 header, but not sure if thats as good as the 4-1. Also as for cams im gonna be getting the CTR intake and ITR exhaust. thanks for the help guys!
