Default Taking off side moldings and pinstripe

Anyone done this, or know how to? I decided yesterday while I was washing my car that both items were completely useless and my ride would look better without them. If I do remove the moldings, will there be any unsightly holes or anything like that? Thanks,

i believe you'll have some nice square holes left behind.. it's gonna cost quite a bit to shave them off, personally i'd just leave 'em on there.. the moldings are there to protect your car from other car doors.. personally i only found them effective against other hondas.

Yeah, you don't want to have those ugly square holes on the side of your car. You can put some bondo on them and sand them down but that will take time and I don't know how good bondo is nor have I had experience with them. I'm wondering of you can take the moldings off, paint them and put them back on? Or is it once you take them off, there is no putting back on?

Mine are already silver, like the rest of the car, i just thought it would look better without them. But, if it is going to cost any more that , i dunno, $5 it isn't worth it right now. I just like the clean look. That pinstripping has to go though...anyone know about that?

Removing the pinstripe is easy if you have the kind that is stuck on. In that case just use a thumb nail to scape the stipe off then hit the remaining adhesive with tar remover or rubbing compound. It takes a long time, but worth it.

If you have stripe that are painted on or under the clear coat you with have to have a body shop remove them and repaint those panels.

Use your fingers and a hair dryer to remove the pinstripes. If you do it on a hot, sunny day, omit the hair dryer. Pick and peel ! I used McGuires cleaner wax to remove what was left of the adhesive.
If you car is more than a few years old, you may see a slight ripple in the clear coat where the stripes were before, but it was barely noticealbe on my black 94 GSR, and it looked SO much better without the pinstripes it was worth it.
We took the pin stripes off my soon to be ex-wife's prelude and there were no marks at all, just a better looking car
