What Always Turns on the Radiator Fan?
hook a jumper wire across the colant temp sensor with the ignition on. that should do it. or hook the fan plug to a 12v source
let the car idle. when it hits halfway(norm. temp), start watching, let it keep idleing, if the temp goes past that and the fans still dont come on, something is wrong...also shut down the car at this point, dont want to run it hot.

that will only tell him if his a/c fan is working...it wont tell him if his temp. switch is working...i mean do you want to drive around in jan. w/ac on so the car dont overheat.

yea just let the car idle with the hood closed and listen for the fan to turn on. If it starts overheating and the fan doesnt turn on, then its no good.

he just wants to see IF the fans work, by turning on the a/c, both fans automatically turn on vs. if the car overheats, just the radiator fan will turn on, all ya gotta do is turn the car on, then turn the ac on, if both fans turn on then yay, if one or no fans turn on then something is wrong

Yes, but as stated before this will not tell you if the TE sensor is bad. Both fans will come on regardless of the TE sensor if you flick the a/c on. If the TE sensor is bad, the radiator fan will not kick on and he risks the chance of overheating while driving. Sure you could flick the A/C on but why take the chance of overheating when you can simply turn your car on and let it warm to normal temp?

took me about 20 - 30 min from a cold start for the fan to kick on. it was probably around 30 degrees out at the time

SO if I havent see it turn on lately with 0 degree temperatures, I shouldnt be worried, right? The car really doesnt idle that much. It usually consists of just drving. Dont really beat on the car?
