Leave tranny in the car when engine removed..yes or no?

I would leave it on, pulling the tranny off while the engine is in the car is a major PITA. It's easier to just pull it all out as one, then once it's out, getting the tranny off is cake.
If you're asking if you can leave the tranny in and pull the engine out, no that's not possible. You have to unbolt almost all the engine mounts (except driver side) and tilt the engine down just to get the tranny off the block, so there is no way to leave it in the car and pull only the longblock out.

I tried pulling a block (no head) out of a civic sedan while leaving the tranny in, and it wasn't possible. There wasn't enough room in the engine bay to seperate the two. We ended up bolting the tranny back on and pulling them both out.
