What are lightweight rims made of ?
I am looking into the Rota Subzero's (Konig knock off ?) They are ultra light for 17's , around 16.5 lbs... but I can't seem to find what material they are made of...
For instance, Spoon's ultralights are made of magnesium...
What are these rims made of and how strong is the material compared to a regular alloy rim ? I've seen a pic of a broken rim that appeared to be a Rota, but someone said it was an ADR.
Anyone ever break a rim under hard driving ? I have, but that was using the median and 60+ mph.....

I'm pretty sure Spoon SW388s are made out of forged aluminum, the same as my rims, Desmond regamaster evos...
The wheels you are wondering about are probably cast aluminum.
Forging offers the best strength over casting...but it comes with a price. If you are worried about bending rims, consider 16" for more tire protection, and consider a forged rim...You will also have to alter your driving habits to ensure no damage(eg. not driving over potholes at 90 mph)...

It's really embarassing when a person advertise a set of rims describing them as a knock off of a knock off
Anyways, the Rota Subzero isn't a Konig copy. Rather, it is a copy of Racing Hart CP035/CP35.
