+4's or regular spark plugs?
which is better for your car? does the +4's actually free up hp by providing a hotter spark? or is the stock single better? i have heard different things in the past and i would like to know if anyone has any real life experience with this

+4's in Hondas have been reported as junk by many people here.
Just go to your local NAPA and order NGK BKR6E-11 copper plugs, less than $2 each.

Usually good old copper plugs do the best job. In some cases platinum is required in certain cars. But usually gimmick spark plugs are just that. In one of my friends supras he ran about 15 different plugs, platinum, iridium etc and dynoed after a few of them. The best performer was NGK copper plugs.

Well on GS-R's NGK Platinum is stock, but copper is better, conducts electricity better, and is cheaper.
You just have to change them more often than platinum plugs, but it's still cheaper in the long run (comparing the price of NGK platinum plugs vs. NGK copper plugs).

I was just about to say well doesnt the copper where out faster, I still just say stick with the NGKs platinum, I dont see a big difference in spark plugs on our engines, but just stick with NGK's platinum or copper they both work great.

well problem is, most places I've been to charge $11-$15 each for the NGK Platinum plugs. I'll take a $8 set of plugs over that anyday if it actually works better. Who cares if you have to change them every 10K-15K miles, it only takes literally 5 minutes to change them.
I think the recommended interval for changing the platinum plugs is every 60K miles, so say you went through 4 sets of copper plugs over the course of 60K miles, it's STILL cheaper than 1 single set of NGK platinum plugs.

I put the Bosch +4's in last weekend and did a valve adjustment, car runs real good. Idles smoothly and quietly, good power on the highway.
Paid $6.50/plug at Kragen, and Bosch has a $10 rebate on their website. So net is $4 a piece. Not bad for platinum at all.

I've got Pt+4 in my GS-R, they're OK. I can't say they're BETTER, but they're not junk.

Then labor cost makes it cheaper to use platinum. Besides, Honda can advertize 'no tune-ups for xxxx miles.'
OK Patrick... I know that it's real easy, but there's lots of people (who don't post here), they don't WANT to even own a wrench. They choose a different 'hobby'.

You'd think it would be easy.
The previous owner of my car put the plugs in, but didn't torque them down. I removed them with only the socket and extension, no ratchet necessary. They were barely finger tight.
Scary thing was that he was supposed to be some sort of mechanic.

my friend put some bosh +2's in his 89 honda accord and he tightened them down right and everything, then he was driving and heard a loud *** pop... opened up the hood and i think the 3rd plug from the left side had shot out of the block.. he thinks it might of came loose or something but it was weird.. ive never heard of that happening
