Bad bad bad.

Clipping the turbine side of the turbo decreases the exhaust backpressure and increases top end-flow, but it's the worst way to do it. It also increases lag, and decreases the turbine efficiency (and therefore the amount of energy it can exert on the compressor).

If you want more flow, get a properly sized turbine wheel and housing.

smoke marrows every day.

Anyway, from what I have read KPT is right. clipping turbine wheels is just a ghetto way around picking the correct wheel and housing combo. It's odd how DSM places offer this like it's an awesome upgrade. maybe they are really more budget than honda people.....nahhh

Just keep in mind that just because SOME DSM vendors offer that as an option, does not mean that all DSM'ers buy them, or agree with it.

There are lots of body kits for civics, but that doesn't mean anything about turbo civic guys, right?

Interesting tidbit: DSM's have gone 10's with 20g compressor wheels, running with heavily clipped TDO5H exhaust wheels. That's a very "crappy" and "small" setup, which I would never run in a car, but it still does well.

Oh well, it still sucks.

its for drag car not street cars, they only care about top end, clipped turbine wheels will help a drag car only, they have no low boost or lag problems to worry about. listen to KPT

Yes and no. Clipped turbine wheels aren't good for anyone, but they're more applicable in a drag car.

I wouldn't use them on any car though, it's just a way to lose potential.

Back for the dead kinda...

Well.... I'm thinking about getting WRX turbine wheel clipped b/c there is no "bolt-on" larger turbine housing or Stage1,2,3 turbine wheels... Basiclly there is no option to upgrade the exsisting turbine without changing to a $$$.$$ dollar turbo or something totally different.

Since 13psi is the max I'm going to run ( ever due to FMS ) I don't need anymore compressor than I already have and WRX turbo fits perfect with full size radiator and all...

Basiclly if its the only option, do you still think its a mistake ?
Also not to sound like a KICD, but save the "change to a different turbo" comments, I'm not interested in swapping turbos....
