Default Changing 4th Gen Prelude Shift Boot

My shift boot is torn to **** and I have a new one to swap in, I checked out the entire assembly and took it apart to the boot and the plastic ring. I can't see a way to take out the boot without tearing it all up to ****, if anyone has done this before please help me out a bit. Thanks in advance

usually when you buy a shift boot, it comes with the plastic ring that is what the material is molded into. if you got a shift boot without a plastiv ring at ythe bottom you fucked, unless there is another way to do it

in this image you buy the shift boot with the ring attached at the bottom

you can ghetto patch it and it will come out fine... I am trying to remember how it is attached exactly. IIRC there are staples in there. But you can pull the old one off the ring and find a way to attach the new one... So just have to be a bit creative and ghettofab it. It should look good because you should only be doing all the work on the bottom side that won't show. Hope you know what I mean..

there are staples, i just removed the staples, placed the boot around the ring. then used a staple gun to re-connect.

1)remove the shift **** by pulling down on the ring and the boot. It takes force, but it should pop down. Then you can unscrew the stock shift ****

2)remove the center console by unscrewing 4 screws on each side, and 2 screws underneath the climate control console.

3)pull up the e-brake as high as possible, and move the shifter into reverse. It takes a little bit of finesse to get the console out, but pull it back, and then up - be patient and it'll come out.

4)the shift boot is attached to a bracket that is screwed into the center console with 2 screws. Unscrew them and you have your shift boot and bracket.

Hope it helps
