Having done the oil changes to my teg the past few times, I realized that the old oil I drain out just about fills 3 of the 1L Mobil 1 bottles, but each time I add about 3.8 L. My car doesn't burn that much oil that I have had to add more oil between oil changes, and the oil level on the dipstick is normal, so I'm confused as to what happened to almost a litre of oil? Can anyone add some insight to this? It is puzzling me...

 

i've been having the same problem on my 95 integra, its got 97000 miles on it, my buddy told me to replace my valve seals, i went to acura today and they wanted $94 for all of them, but i dont feel like doing all that work. let me know how u make out. i hope its normal. oh yea, dont floor it every time u accelerate

 

Also, the some of your oil is going to be in the filter itself. You wont ever drain all the oil you put in. Oil will burn even in a new motor because of all that heat. If you like to visit high RPM then you might loose a little more. If you getting 3 quart of oil out from the oil pan, thats not bad at all.

 

yeah it's normal to burn oil...... just make sure to check the dipstick every 2 weeks or so

 

As a matter of fact, VTEC's are particularly noted for disapating oil as it travels through the especially hot exhaust cam, nothing abnormal.
