Default B16a reliability

im getting a B16 crx si tomorrow and need to know how reliable a b16 should be...it is a b16a first gen, with 60,000 miles and 180,000 on the chassis...everything was done at the local Honda dealer 10,000miles ago and the dude has all the paperwork-he used to work there selling cars...so he got hooked up...i have a 91 with the d16a6 and it has proven to be extremely reliable...and fuel efficient...what should i expect from a b16...only engine upgrades were dc header, catback exhaust and act clutch and lightened flywheel...oh...and all intertnals were rebuilt with OEM Honda...everything was done professionally...i just need to know what to expect...in reliability and fuel efficiency...

thanks guys...

b16 r/s ratio is one of the best hondas produced. it should be quite reliable.

I've had mine for a year and had no problems at all. I drag my car at least 1 to 2 times a month and have run nitrous and I still have had no problems and I get 31mpg(ballpark).

With the great r/s ratio it should actually be one of hondas best motors since a better r/s ratio puts less stress on the rings, pistons, walls.
But just so you know, any honda motor is going to be a pretty good motor.

My 1st gen B16a has given me no problems at all. I still have a high cold idle, but she cranks and fires every time. Very dependable.

As for fuel economy I'm getting just about 18-22mpg with mostly freeway driving, but that's only because more then half of that time is spent in VTEC due to the tightly geared S1.

That is exactly where that time should be spent.

The b16a will be very reliable just like any other Honda motor. But now you have a perfect R/S ratio (1.74) and 8200 RPM redline and VTEC.

I get an average of 28 MPG, so gas mileage isn't too bad either.
