Default BAH!!! battery light cant mean anything good...

damn, battery indicator just came on today, manual says its not getting charged anymore, which basicly means my alternator some how went out on me. im not very knowledgable in this area, and was wondering if there was anything that even a normal guy like myself might be able to try before i try and find a shop to take it to. thanks.

damn i wish my car would stop breaking something new right before i fix the problem before it.

sounds like alternator to me, stop by autozone or some other car parts place, have them run a test. but sounds like alt.

You can check your grounds, and the power wire coming
from the alternator. Its woth a try I guess.

I'd say if your battery light is on solid, your alt is dead.

Don't forget the obvious, maybe you got lucky and it's just the alternator belt that broke. Mght want to check that first

another good way to check is to disconnect your battery with the car running. if the car stalls then the alternator is bad because it can not charge the battery

Alot of people would advise you to stay away from this. I'm told it's an
old school trick and that it has the potential to fry your electronics on
newer cars.

Just what I've heard, but I wouldn't do it with my car.

Is the battery light on constant or only at lower RPMs? Both times my alternator died, the light would come on if I dropped the RPMs below 4000 so I just kept the car revved to hell so that I could get home. To change the alternator (at least on 90-93 tegs) you have to pull out the driver-side axle. I'm not sure if you have to on 94+ tegs, but that's the hardest part of changing it.

like 10 bux for belt and install it yourself. It's cake.

If not I imagine they would probably charge you an hour labour to install.
