Dumb ?- 1988 Prelude SI/Auto. What is the small button next to the shifter? Overdrive?
Just went to look at an 88 Prelude SI Auto. Runs and drives great. I noticed a small button just below and to the right of the shifter. What is it? Thanks in advance.
Not totally sure but methinks its for the sports mode, it holds your gears longer for a bit more acceleration once pressed. I had a 90 2.0i 4ws & the sports mode was a S4 button on the tip of the gearshift stick. I think a light will come on the dash when you press it to remind you its engaged. Give it a press & just hope its not an ejector seat button
Havin said that could be sunroof ?

THanks. So it's kind of like an overdrive button? Better to leave it on or off? I should be picking up this car tomorrow. I'm not very Prelude or automatic knowledgeable. Slowly learning....
Best bet is give it a press when engine running but not moving & see if it operates anything before hittin highway it can't harm, if you see a light come on dash that's when the sports is engaged, but you don't want that on all the time or your engine will work harder & will hold your gears longer meaning unwanted high revs & use more fuel, you can use that for quicker overtaking or when you want extra pullin power. When it's not lit is the normal driving position. No it's not an overdrive that is a higher gear for cruising & keepin your revs down once at cruisin speed.
