Default Chrome plating Honda brake calipers, possible?

Is it possible to have the brake calipers chrome plated?

I know it's technically possible, but in asking around one person said he heard from his girlfriend's brother's friend's older brother that it wasn't a good idea because the calipers are mild steel which will flex and crack the chrome plating.

To me that doesn't sound too reliable.

Anyone here have any good, reliable information for me?

Am I going to be the first one to do this?

yea you could definately chrome them but I think it would be easier to get them polished since they are made from aluminum. When chrome plating aluminum you first have to dip them in copper and then dip them in chrome because the chrome sticks to copper better than aluminum. Furthermore chrome turns a bluish hue when it gets really hot so aluminum polish might hold better.

look in your local phone book first . it would be less of a hassle for you if the shop was local . then if you cant find anybody look out of state .

What would a person look up in the phone book for polishing?

I never thought of that. If you have something aluminum polished, do you have to go back and polish them like once a month or somthing?

The only aluminum calipers that I know of are high-performance monoblock fixed 2-, 4-, 6, and 8-piston calipers. Regular single- and two-piston floating calipers used on Hondas are cast iron, same as the brake rotors.

I just looked on brakewarehouse.com and they supply calipers w/ in original finish, gold cadmium or nickel plated, or powdercoated in various colors.

I just think with a candy red powdercoated suspension and gunmetal ITR wheels the chrome calipers will be just enough to draw your attention to the car at a car show.

Heck, you should see the car after it gets out of the paint booth. House of Kolor Kandy Apple Red with "Ice Flake" under 1.5 gallons of clear. It's going to look gorgeous.

You should have seen my last hornet racer, 1/2 gallon of premium Canary yellow Exterior house paint. Ya it took 45 min to apply but it only took 5 min to dry at 45 mph.
