Default Idle problem....have no idle adjustment screw

Last weekend i swapped my non vtec d15 for a d16y8 bottom end with a z6 head.

To make a long story short... I realized i dont have a idle air adjustment screw. Would this cause my car to not idle or to stall when not given gas?

The long story
The car ran great but pinged @ WOT. My friend adjusted timing and fuel to fix pinging. The following day i go to move the car and it stalls. In fact the only way to get it to start is to give it gas while cranking. Well today while double checking vac lines and other things i realize there is no idle adjustment screw in the TB. It was there before. But must have backed itself out or something. Ever since the next day when i went to move the car. It just stalls as the rpms decrease. I can drive the car and it runs fine. Except during idle and low rpms.

Car is a '95 DX with 11.1CR z6/y8 motor. The EVAP was removed as well as the IACV (blocked using duct tape.) Car ran fine even with these items removed/blocked.

TIA

so there's a empty hole where the screw used to be? if that's the case, you need a screw. its very important.

You got it. I am about to go look for one right now. I am just hoping this is causing me to not have an idle.

Default Got it to idle...but theres more

I installed a new idle adjustment screw and that made no difference. I started to fiddle with the vac lines and ....now the car idles. I removed the vac line off the nipple in the back of IM near IACV. IT idles like a champ.

Drove around a bit and get the engine up to operating temp and shut it back down. I adjust idle. So far so good. Go for a test drive. This time i get on it. Oil light starts to flash...then stays on. I immediately shut car down. ...Wait and start it back up. Oil light is off..but i noticed when cranking it up...it makes a weird noise. Possibly rod knock? It makes a similar sound when you have bad gas and turn off the car but it tries to continue running.

Any chance someone has a audio clip of rod knock? I am getting the feeling i will need a new motor or rebuild.
