Be honest guys, how many of you actually wear your gear at all times?
Not trying to start a fire here guys, just trying to find out how many of you actually ride with gear everytime you go out?
Are there a lot of states that require you to wear atleast a helmet when riding a motorcycle?

I don't remember the exact breakdown of which states require helmets, but it's definitely a smart idea to wear one, especially with the recent post of what can happen to your head when it collides with a bus and you're not wearing a helmet.
Helmet all the time. Gloves all the time. Boots, always if it's anything beyond commuting. Leather jacket always (unless it's raining, then textile jacket). Leather pants, same as boots. Cheaper than a skin graft!

By law I have to, but even if it wasnt I would. Even if it was just a test ride around the block. I've heard and seen too mny horror stories of people just riding around the block real quick and getting into a bad accident. Its your freakin head!!!
I always wear my helmet, would be dumb not to.. Gloves..
that is about all.. even when I go on a ride I still dont wear my leathers.. they are really unconfortable..

unfortunately here in Iowa you aren't even required to wear sunglasses. And I think I've only seen the BMW riders wearing helmets. occasionally I'll see a sport bike or two with a rider wearing a helmet, but that's only on the highway.
No wonder there are soo many motorcycle deaths during the summer around here...

In KY you can ride with no helmet, but if you drive a car, you are required to wear a seat belt. Then the newspapers always put the motorcycle deaths in the papers, but not the auto accident deaths. Really gives riders a bad name.
I never leave the house without a helmet, gloves, jacket, and boots. If I ride the country with friends, the leathers go too. Don't even think of riding without a helmet or gloves. You'll just be a statistic

I don't understand how anybody can even ride well w/o a helmet. The wind is killer on the eyes even w/ glasses. Anything short of goggles is distracting and we all know how dorky those look. Then again you look at the chicken strips and it all makes sense. That said I've been known to drop the race boots and pants for familiar 70% pace on locals. Always steel toed work boots and jeans at the least though. Even in summer. Anybody complaining about heat isn't going fast enough

I always wear, helmet, gloves, leather jacket, back protector, and boots (sidi vert 2's), and pants. No matter how far or near I am going to ride I always wear all that stuff. If I am going to ride on the freeway or go ride in the canyons then I wear my 2 pc leathers and all the other stuff mentioned above.
We have a helmet law here in GA but even if we didnt i would never risk not wearing one. Even a small fall without a helmet could ruin your life. I go with the helmet, leather jacket, gloves, and jeans all the time..no matter what. My next investment is on a pair of leather pants and riding boots.
sometimes i ride up and down the street behind my complex to listen for anything out of the ordinary after performing maintenance. now that i dont have a chain to mess with its not as necessary but i do listen for suspension clunks etc.
I wear my helmet 100% of the time even though in SC its not a law, and i would say i wear my jacket, gloves, boots 75% of the time.
I always wear my helmet (RF 900), gloves (GP+), and jacket (textile, no leather yet) for driving around in town, but I'll put on my boots (vert2's) and pants (textile once again) if going on a ride. Even so, I usually wear my boots whenever I ride.
I agree with the guy a few posts up though, I tried riding with my shield up one time and nothing is more fun than a bug in the eye going 35+

just for this thread I'm going to put on my flame suit, but any other time it's tee shirt, shorts, and shoes. Any more gear than that depends on the weather and the law. The only piece of gear I wear 100% of the time is eyewear. Daytime I wear Oakley E-wires (c. 1994), nighttime I wear StarLite GS safety glasses. I've been riding (dirtbikes and streetbikes) for 16 years, I have no idea how many thousands of miles I've ridden (just on my "around town" bike, which is 1 of the 5 I own at any one time, I have ~20,000 in 4 yrs. The Z50 has over 2500 miles on it). No incidents yet. And yes, all of my boots/shoes/footpegs/crashbars/kickstands have been ground down by the asphalt.
