Who knows how to make those VTEC lights?
Yeah, I know most of you guys may think its a rice-a-roni idea but I was plannin to install an indiglo Honda emblem on my dash and connect it to my VTEC. The light will serve as entertainment for my passengers when the car hits VTEC. I'm not an electrical expert so I hope one of you guys can hook me up. Thanks

doesnt the idiglo things take a minute to turn on? or am i thinkin of something else?
anyway, just hook it up to your vtec signal wire and a ground. when you hit vtec the signal wire is hot, when your not in vtec the wire isnt. its really simple.

White guages arnt too hard to hook up, I connected them to light controller so they would come on with my headlights. The vtec controller I dont know.

i have a vtec light, so my car is rice now? i admit, the indiglow H symbol is a little unorthadox(sp?) but maybe he is doing what most people dont and trying to be original.
basically, he asked a question. for something HE wants to do to HIS car. now i could understand your attitude if HE wanted to do this to YOUR car, but thats not the case.

its rice but ill help yeah
first tap into your vtec wire and run it near where this honda badge is located. Then tap into your batter or some other sorce of fuse protected power and run that to the same place. Next buy a relay (goto radio shack) and there are 4 prongs on it
there are 4 numbers on it 30 87 86 85
connect 30 to vtec wire, 87 ground to chassis 86 to that battery wire and 85 to teh honda badge and then ground the other wire off the badge to the chassis or tie it into 87
compredi?
just im me if u got anymore questions

I think that's a unique idea. It's for the interior anyway. You could have a lot of fun with that. If it were going to light up the exterior emblems, then that would be a totally different story. Go for it...

a VTEC light is not rice at all. I consider it an aid for shifting, even though I don't have one.
Here's a nice walkthrough on how to do it.

good luck

I guess thats a good thing to have. At least you'll know your vtec solenoid is getting a signal.
</TD></TR></TABLE>I guess thats a good thing to have. At least you'll know your vtec solenoid is getting a signal.
it's easy just get a bulb and socket that will fit in the back of your cluster (pref. a oem one) connect 1 wire to your vtec signal wire (using a t tap ect..) then ground the other wire, you'll prolly need to sand off the black stuff infront of the socket hole, i had to. it's not rice, it's nice to know you have a vtec signal, that means that a lot of things are working right, and besides, you don't want to beat on a vtec motor before it heats up, no power, and it's not good for the motor. i love my vtec lite, ohh you'll also have to make a little piece of plastic that says VTEC or something cool like OHH ****! (just use a small piece of clear plastic/ print it on your puter..... you'll figure it out. i could prolly scan my instructions, but i know there's a few sites out there w/ howto's
And you all realise of course that you need VERY low wattage wire and led to make this work, because you dont want to lower the amperage going through the VTEC wire, right ?
Having a switch operate the led with a seperate power supply (and the VTEC wire being just the signal for ON/OFF) is probably the safest way to do this.....
