Default 4-Speed (std) to 5-Speed (DX) Shifter ?

Right now I'm swapping out my blown D15B1 out of my '90 STD HB and putting in a DX engine (D15B2) that I got for cheap. I also got the 5-speed transmission with it and was considering putting it in too.

What needs to be done to the linkage and shifter to make this work? Everything the same, just with a different gate thing?

Also, do the STD axles and stuff pop right in to the DX tranny?

I searched and came up with mixed results about how plug and play it is... Help clear this up.

u need to move the rear trany mount to the other set of bolt holes, when you look you will see what i'm talking about.. everything else bolts up like stock.. u might need to switch to the 5spd trany mount as well

I did this swap in a friends car and everything bolted right up. No moving anything or getting different mounts. The std axles will work just fine. The D15b2 and 5 spd makes the car much quicker. hth

So far this is everything I wanted to hear. The less work the better.

One question though, will the 4-speed shifter bolt right up? If so, how will it go into 5th gear? I haven't got to that point yet, but I'd like to know how big of a hassle this will be. In my mind it doesn't seem like it would work without getting parts off the 5 spd shifter and linkages. Or am I just not thinking of something?

Thanks.

The 5th gear is in the transaxle itself and not the shifter assembly. There are no gates or anything where the shifter is. You shouldn't have to even remove your shifter. Just bolt the old linkage to the new tranny.
