Default ticking noise (searched)

i searched on this but i wasn't satisfied with the responses on previous posts...

my d16y8 runs fine, doesn't bog or anything. There has been, however, a louder ticking sound that I notice. Its not loud enough to be heard from inside the car, you have to actually open the hood to hear it, but its definitly louder than its ever been.

d16y8
85,000 miles
I/H/E
*not replaced timing belt/water pump
runs smooth

is this a problem or am I just being paranoid?

When was the last time you did a valve adjustment.....usually when the valves are out of spec they make a ticking sound.

never

*thinking this could be the problem

ALTHOUGH all the threads that came up under search said that they had a ticking noise and that they had already done a valve adjustment....

audible valve noise is sometimes normal depending on how loud it is. but it sounds to me it needs a valve adjustment. it should be done atleast every 15, if not more depending on how bad you beat on it.

I had the same problem as you man. I had my engine running and my hood open. I heard this rapid ticking sound coming from the valve cover. But the car (93 Del Sol Si) ran completely fine otherwise. So I did a valve adjustment. In fact, I went over it twice (I'm ****) and made sure it was 100% correct. It was. So after I was done, I started 'er back up, and she still made that ticking noise. So I dunno what to tell ya man.

Could be bad a injector/s. Honda injectors are known for annoying their owners.
