it is set at one second, or it was the preset "night mode"

well when you took the pics, and it then displayed it in the lcd display. didnt it seem dark, so maybe having the shutter open a lil longer wouldnt have hurt?

When I take pictures in "the dark" like that, I usually leave the shutter open for 7 seconds. That seems to allow the right amount of light in for me. Play with your camera...
If you can adjust these:
Aperature size: Smaller number equal larger size = more light.
Shutter speed: longer shutter speed = more light.
ISO: Larger Number = More grainy Smaller Number = Better pics
I shoot with ISO100 for nightime shots.
Believe it or not, this pic was taken in almost complete dark with a slight light. Using a longer shutter speed I was able to capture it.

And whether you choose to believe me or not, this is a pic taken with very, very, very minimal lighting. 30 second shutter speeds ownz j00!
