BMW race team shop tour pics (Mclaren F1 GTR included)
*I posted this in the RR/AX forum, but I figure most in here don't visit that forum, and vice versa, sorry for double post, but I figure this stuff would be of interest*
Shop is PTG, aka Prototype Technology Group, aka BMW Motorsports North America, aka home of the banned GTR V8 M3's
. It's not Honda related at all, but I figured you guys would appreciate it!
The local chapter of the BMW CCA sets up a tour of the facilities every January, and it's always packed. This was my first trip out there, and to say I was impressed was an understatement. I'm not much of a writer so I'll let the pictures do the talking, but the one cool thing Tom Milner (founder of PTG, former co-owner of Summit Point) told us is that PTG will be heading BMW's vintage racing efforts in North America, and they are in the process of restoring an old IMSA 320 turbo (pics in the album). And if you are curious about the Mini at the shop.... I am too, not sure what it could be used for because it has NOSSSS! Anyways, enough blabbering, on with the show!
The rest of the 173 pics can be seen here

If you have any questions about some of the pics, feel free to ask, I can pretend to know the answers, or at least make you believe they are right (I was a marketing major
)

There was no production car equivalent, and for the series the car had to be based off something a consumer could purchase.

It's in Winchester but you really can't just show up and get a tour of the facility. BMW club will be going again at this time next year though
. And you don't have to be in the club to go.
