Ghetto paint?
I just want my car to be flat black, or somewhat blackish. Is there I way I can skip all the sanding down, priming ect. ect. and just spray somthing over all that paint. Cus I really dont care how it looks as long as it sticks.. spraypaint? How ghetto with spraypaint work, and will it just wear off?
Well if you really want it ghetto just spray it. Eventually it will fall off, crack, or peel. I would sand it down and save yourself a ton of headaches in the future. Do it right.

Our cars don't have a clear coat. We got single stage paint. Get a can of prep sol from the paint suppily shop and wipe down the entire car. Mask off the parts you don't want painted windows, lights, antenna, ect... Get some 320 grit and skuff up the entire car. Dupli color is pretty much the best off the shelf rattle can paint. Clean all the dust off with the prep solvent and get a few tack rags while at NAPA. Tack rag the car then shoot it. Don't put too much paint on too quick or you'll get runs. Let the paint flash for a few minuites inbetween coats. 3 coats will be plenty. I'd like to see what it looks like when you finish so post up some pics in this thread.

a few months ago i bought a red 89 crx dx for $1000. i needed a winter car while my teg sits in my drive way. i hate red cars! so i went out to the store and bought quite a few cans of phantom gray and clear coat, taped off all the windows and started spraying. it looks 100% better! the only problem is after a while it started to chip away in some places. im still happy with it

The paint on my front end was all rock chiped up and fated real bad so I santed it down and sprayed it with flat black primer. Looked good just till I get a new front.
yea i'd also say do it proper so it wont end up bad. my brother sanded his down and sprayed it with rattlecan primer.. then he got some Semi Flat PPG paint and borrowed a friends compressor and spray gun and sprayed it himself... looks pretty nice
sort of off but on topice...if you spray your car with whatever spray paint will that affect anything if you get it professionaly done in the future??
someone one mentioned there would be some problems once but i forgot exactly what those problems were?

If you get your car completely sanded and done the right way, then whatever you do paint wise will not matter.
You don't want to strip your car to bare metal and then just put primer on. It will rust through if you don't treat the metal and seal it. Primer is porous.
As for spray bombing your car, just remove all the wax and scuff the paint so the new paint has something to adhere to. Then go to town with rustoleum or krylon if you want cheap. Works like a charm!

If done right, a spray paint paint job can look nice. I was reading about spray painting your car on my VW forum, one guy in Canada one 2nd place is a show with a rattle can job. If you sand it down, and do several light coats, it can look quite nice...
