Apexi n1 Catback or custom piping?
I am looking into redoing my exhaust system. Currently i have 2 1/4" resonator back crush bent piping with a Magnaflow muffler. I know that this was a mistake, and is probably hurting my car more than helping it. BTW i currently have an AEM cold air. A turbo project (8-10 psi on the hack- nothing major) might be down the road, so i want to plan for that. I am thinking of getting the Apexi n1 n/a muffler (smaller size) with some mandrel bent 2 1/4" piping from accordinglydone. The reason why i think this would be the best idea is because i would also get a resonator, as i know the apexi cat-back is quite loud. Bacially, i am worried about the volume of the n1 catback. I have a pretty loud system now, so it wouldnt be that big of a deal, but i dont want anything that is overwhelming. Any ideas?
So its...
Apexi n1 n/a muffler w/ 2 1/4 mandrel bent piping with a resonator
or
Apexi catback

i would get the n1 catback. but if your gona go turbo, you should get the apexi gt spec. its a 3 in catback. but i would wait untill your turboed for that cuz an exhaust with that little of backpressure will make your car feel like a dog in na form.
Well, you said you're going turbo in the future, no? In that case, I'd go with the cat-back because it uses 60mm piping, which is a tad bigger than 2.25". (60mm is around 2.36".) Bigger piping will help when you're turbocharged.
But really, 2.5" or even 3" would be more ideal. 2.5" might hurt your low-end on your current setup, but it would help on your setup down the road. Then, with 2.5" piping, buy a cheap A'PEXi N1 look-alike; they're all the same straight-through design, anyway. Magnaflow even makes canister mufflers that may have a small tip like on the A'PEXi N1 N/A universal muffler but with a 2.5" inlet. Magnaflow mufflers also come in polished T304 stainless steel.
When I ran the GReddy SOHC kit on my Y8, I used A'PEXi 60mm piping but replaced the muffler with an OBX MV1015 muffler because I got tired of the N1's looks. Sounded the same as the N1 but just a bit deeper in tone.

i have a apex-i n1(NOT a knock off) with 2.5" mandrel bent cat back. it was on my car when i bought it, but i really like it. at idle, and around 2.5k rpm its fairly quiet, when u get on it though it gets loud. maybe a little too loud, but definitly not worth changing it for me. i have the turbo one (it is 115 mm i beieve) and i kinda wish that my car came with the non turbo one (future change maybe) i think i lost too much back pressure . but over all......

Do you realize that it IS a bad idea? The N1 N/A is a 60mm inlet. Convert that to inches. Going from 2.5" piping to a 2.36" muffler will just bottleneck everything. The inlet of the muffler should be bigger or the same size as the exhaust piping, not smaller.

These look nice.
