Default They found my Type R

Got a letter in the mail from a Autorama in the Bronx. The letter stated that they found my car about a week ago. Well I call them up and they tell me that all that is left is the hood, trunk, and fenders. I am going to check it out tonight.
Least I have closure now.
They also told me my car was found on 177st and the Bronx River. Not too far from my apt.

I'm happy for you in the sense that you now have closure. Maybe if it isnt too bad you can buy back for pennies on the dollar from the ins co.

Even then... why bother buying it back? It sounds like all that is left is the shell. All the valuable stuff is gone.

Congrats???? Good luck on the IS... keep your fingers crossed for the TRD Turbo.

I am glad you have some closure. I just met up with Tad, the guy who had is car stolen in NJ. He said that it didn't "hit" him until he saw the car. I kinda know how you guys feel. When mine was stolen, when I first saw it after the theft, it was a little nerve racking.

Hey david how did you end up meeting up with him. Is he a member or you found out who the car belonged to another way.
Its gonna hit harder when I see it b/c I miss that car soo much. I have always loved that car and will own another soon enough.

I'm glad that you can finally put this tragedy of yours to an end. You must have gone through hell and back with this, not knowing where it is or what condition it is in. But now you know. You learned the hard way, but at least you know. Even though you're in a country where you have freedom and you can buy whatever you want, that is not always the case, because there are people that will rip that freedom apart from you one way or another. Thieves suck!

RIP

Sorry to hear.

When I saw my recovered R I was quite amazed by the minimalist damage done to it. Although they did strip out the $$ sound system the only components they broke were the dashboard and the steering column.

One of these days when the R gets back on its feet I'll see you fellow R drivers at an auto-x.

I'm very sorry to hear about your car being stolen. That sucks.

But even the ITR shell is unique, and probably worth something to someone. It would probably be cheaper to just buy another (if you can find one) but I hate to think of the car being sent off to the crusher if it could be rebuilt.

Just thowing out my useless thoughts...

Man I'm right with you all. I hate theives. Why does it seem that every ITR theft is from the Bronx if its in NYC? Those people need to get jobs and buy their own Type-R and leave us alone who work long and hard hours for our cars.

Mario,
The guy in NJ (Tad), I met him autocrossing. He usually drives a Miata, then one day he showed up with an ITR. We have been friends since then.

Mario, once again I'm sorry for your loss. I know just what you feel. I'm still stunned to have lost mine and now have a new one. I hope everything is good with the IS? I'd love to see it at a meet.

BTW all, I don't remember where or when but I saw a guy selling ITR seats for about $450. online in another forum. I think it was At Club si/Type R in Atlanta, but I can't remember for sure. I'm not sure if it was a joke but I do remember it...

Good luck all and be safe,

A.

I always start wondering about posts like that, there are a few in the HT Classifieds that sound a little fishy too, One guy has almost every part that they strip off our cars for sale

Well I went to go look at my car last night. The car was totally stripped but had some weird things that were done to it that made me think it was on the road for a little while.
Ex. 1)The front quarterpanel was hit and so was the the front and rear bumpers.
Ex. 2)The rear taillights were still on the car.
Ex. 3)The hood was still in good shape and it was my hood b/c I put a itrca sticker and aem sticker under it.
Ex. 4)I had installed a grille on the car and screwed into the front bumper. The holes were still there and the grille looked as if it was taken out cleanly.
Ex. 5)All the glass was still intact on the car but was spray painted black.

Everything else was cleanly stripped from the car and they put a four lug honda suspension on it. It was a depressing site but least I know that some ******* isn't still driving it around.
To answer the question of turning it into a race car, well H-Pimp also mentioned that to me last night and I would but I'm in debt as it is and not very good with the wrench. So it would be a timely and costly process, and those are two things I don't have right now.
Thanks for all the love guys and I will still participate in type R events b/c like I said before I will own another one. Also just for the record my IS300 is noo Type R. VIVA LA TYPE R!!!!

Don't worry Mario, soon enough you'll have another R. In the meantime you have that sweet IS to keep you occupied.

damn i just read about your car mario... i seen the same exact thing on mace avenue and williamsbridge road... 2kitr with 4lug left on a corner... 177th st. has quite a number of shops in the area, which means they stripped it and rolled it there... thats just my theory. i swear to god im putting tracking device on my engine so then when(hopefully never) it gets stolen i will know who stole it... thats the mentallity you gotta have when living in nyc with a type r... cuz if they want it... its theirs.

Hey VTEC man, I've got a 95GSR and want to go your route TodaB and high comp. Do you feel any noticeable loss in low end in daily driving? Have you dyno'd your car? Thanks.
