buying accord help
oh i am about the buy a accord in a auction. now i know how many people play arond with the milage in accord **** i have one right now (piece of junk) can someone tell me on what to look on the car to find out if iit has original miles and tell me for what to look in a car to see if the car is good or if it has any problem with the trans or with the engine because i realy can't afford to buy a shitty car again. please help i am not lucky with cars. i don't need a car that burns oil like ****. please help this monday i would probably go and buy the car if there is a auction on monday but please help me
You need to bring someone that knows cars really well. Nothing on this board will really help you in an auction where you can't drive the car beforehand and your limited by time.
About the only thing i can tell you is start the car COLD to see if it smokes & smell the automatic transmission fluid (if so equipped). If the fluid smells burned, the transmission has not been taken care of.
Unfortunately, there are SOOOOO many ways to hide / fudge ****, it's impossible for an average person to really know.
Are really you sure you want to buy a car at auction?
Are you really in Albania?

yo alba there's really no fool proof way to buy a car. iono what to tell u. i got lucky wit my accord. i paid 3000 for it like 4 years ago and never had a major repair ...the one's i had were my fault or someone else's. (i blew my alternator with my stereo system and i had to oil leaks cause those dumbasses at 3rd and oregon stripped my vavle when they changed the oil) . this problem i have now is the 1st major problem i had in three years and its prolly just a tune up or a maintenance repair on the fuel pump. when i brought my car i did some research on how to check cars and ****. like how to smell and feel the transmission fluid, etc. so when i went i was checking all this **** like i was a expert and ****...i bet the dealer felt really scared. also i dont recommend buying old cars from major dealerships( like a 91 accord from a honda dealer) because most likely its a trade in, and its prolly been on they lot for a few days. if u buying older cars go to a place that has ALOT of older cars, because they prolly specialize in that. i got mine from some used car spot on frankford ave. in kensington. i have a friend that has a hook up with dealer license in lancaster. he gets cars for real cheap. i can try to get in contact wit him and see what he has. i know he recently sold a 96 lexus es 300 for like 5K. he always tries to make profit tho, so he'll prolly charge u a few thousand more than he paid. i hope that helps
I heard a few tricks,
check the pedals for excessive wear and tear
Look at the interior is it all tore up , does it match the miles for the car.
Make sure all the Vins on the body panels match up to check for a crash
Ummm what else??
look for marks around the odemeter around the screws that hold it in
A carfax report shows where and when with mileage when the car was registred and with how many miles at registering.
Look for all the spare tire tools so with age it is more likeley the spare was used or tools are missing.

the thing is when i bought my last accord it was clean everything in order. well keept. but its giving me a lot of problems. now my first accord was dirty had many miles but i only put a distibutor on that and that is it + my bro use to race that car. i don't know what to do. it sucks buying used cars.

I'd take the advice from above. Definitely try to check CarFax if possible. I'm not sure if there's time for the auction, if you get the VIN in advance or anything. Also try looking under the car to see if it looks like it has a number of miles that corresponds with what's on the odometer. It's not super reliable but it can catch way-off ones.
But there really is no way to tell if a car will be good. You can buy a brand new Accord and have more problems than a 3-year-old one....even if a car is well taken care of it can be a POS, and a poorly taken care of car can still be a reliable cheap ride. No real way to tell.....
Good luck!

not just for an accord but all cars-check the body edge for diagonal marks on the (4) corners between the wheels, if there are marks, good chance its been on a frame machined-used to align body/uni-body after an accident. But if they are there, it does not mean its a piece of crap, just be carefull. accords rule- luv my 99 2dr
I'm a little confused by your explanation. Perhaps you have pictures to help illustrate what it looks like? I've never seen what it looks like, and without better explanation or pictures I'll probably never know what to look for.
Thanks,
