i just swaped a d16z6 into my 89 si hatch. i am having a few proplems with it
1. i can rev it to 3 with no problems but if i try to take it to 4 it bogs for a second or two and then allows it to rev.
2. i havent got the right ecu yet so vtec is on a switch right now i can turn vtec on at 5 and it pulls like it is supposed to but as soon as it hits 6 i bogs.
3. after i take it for a ride i come back there a strong gas smell and i cant see any leaks what could that be.

#1 get the correct ECU!

As for the fuel leak(s) check the return line coming off the the fuel pressure regulator and check the banjo fittings that connect to the fuel filter and the fuel rail. Hope that helps

 

ya....it could be leaking fuel => bogging due to lack of gas
