any one know how what % the legal limit is for front driver, passenger, 2 back windows, and rear window for CA?? does it vary from state to state? thanks in advance

Yes NO SMOKING ANYWHERE! I have no idea the % but my friend has tint that is not so dark you can't see in but dark enough that you don't feel on display and he's never gotten a citation for that... he's gotten one for everything else but that. I think as long as a police officer can "sorta" see in you are in the clear. Too dark and they might think you will try to shoot them.

 

i hear that anything over medium is illegal, but then again, i also hear that any tint on the driver and apssenger windows is illegal...i dont want to get too dark of a tint and get a fix it ticket

 

but I think they changed the law here in Cali... I have 21% at the rear windows and 35% in the front... all ok and passed DMV inspection

 

why do you have more in the front? isnt it legal to have any % in the back?

 

the smaller the number, the darker the tint is. meaning 20 is only allowing 20 percent of sunlight enter. in ny, its 35 fronts and 20 everywhere else. but if the cop feels like being a dick, he'll ticket you for having 50's all around.

Every state is different. I know in CT over here anything behind the driver can be as dark as you like. You could spraypaint the windows black and nobody can say nothing, but front driver and passenger can't be darker than 35%. I have 5% on the backs and never got any ticket for that. Just call your local police department. They should be able to tell you.

 

same in ny. but i drove my friends pgt with 5% in the back, and i couldnt stand it. i coudnt see a damn thing. i need a rear view. dont get 5%, get 15 and up.

 

For CA you can have as dark of a tint on your back windows.....for your side windows you cant have any tint at all......I personally dont give a **** so mine are tinted 5% back 20% and 35% on my front windshield....illegal? hell ya....do i care? nope......jus dont let the cops catch you with your windows rolled up....I only have 1 ticket so far....$77 bucks.....no more fix it tickets.....and if i get caught again....its like $150 ticket

this is my story, i was crusing to one of the brea street races and they meet up on imperial and walnut or something in a parking lot, a friend and i got off work at the same time and he asked if i wanted to drop by to see what the brea ppls are up to. im said why not. we went there, and there wasn't any fixed up cars there just 3 cops, and they pulled over three muscle cars. my friend turned in, so i did too. nothing really illegal about my car so i was like whatever. they parked and we were talking in our cars and then as we were leaving, i was going a little over idle speed so they didn't heard my muffler. and they waved me over.. im like wtf!! they had ppl pulled over and they were on foot and called me over and gave me a ticket for my exhaust, no front lic plate, hyper whites in the corners. fukin azzhole. and in anaheim those pigs are everywhere!

you just contradicted yourself. i assume that a loud exhaust, hyper white corners and no front plate is illegal in CA. U had it coming.

 

my point was it was nothing major, exhaust was silent and they had people already pulled over.

 

friends of mine have been pulled over for something they didnt have. for example, one of the two rear licence plate lights was out. $55 ticket until fixed.

 

anyone know the legal tint percentages for DC-MD area? Cops in my county don't seem to care about much of anything, so I could get away with virtually any tint...but I want to know the legal percentages just to be safe and have an idea.
