Different types of paint?
Can someone please explain the different types of auto paint there are out there. Basically, I want to try and paint my own car but am confused after the different kinds of paints there are. What's arcylic enamel? 2 stage, single stage? I was thinking of purchasing some arcylic(spelling?) enamel paint, shoot it on the car and top it off with the same but clear coat.
The three main types of paints are:
Enamel - one stage paint, just throw it in the guy and spray
Acrylic enamel - mix paint with reducer, spray it in the guy and spray
Base/Clear - spray the base on, then spray the clear on
thats the basic way to paint it
most people I know prefer spraying with acrylic enamel, its fairly easy to do, and leaves a good finish.

acrylic will come out smooth like new cars if you prep the car right and can paint fairly well. you can make enamel come out smooth too tho if the car is prepped and sprayed right...
