97 109. RIP
as you can see by my sig, we had some ups, and we had some downs, but now shes gone. some drunk chick ran a red and ripped my nose off 2 nights ago. me and my girl are ok, some bumps and bruises, but teggy is gone. she was finally all sorted, and a complete beast. 70 to 140 on the highway was stupid fast at 15PSI, and she made it from houston to San Francisco and back without ever moving a gauge. perfect AF, temp, EGT, all the while killing cars left and right. moment of silence.
i was wondering how they work the insurance claim since the car isnt listed in KBB? and also, how does a buy back work? anybody have any idea what it might cost? the engine may be salvageable(it was still running after the crash) and the interior is perfect. i cant stand the thought of some ricer finding my fully built C5 in a junkyard, and putting my seats in his low rider, so im going to buy it back and make sure it goes to good homes. as for me, im done with FWD, and im done with honda. the image is just too bad. probably going with an RX7, but it will be a while before its as fast as my teg.

Damn dude, this makes what, like 200 R's gone this week? wow. I'm sorry that this has turned you away from Hondas. Were you hurt? Do you have any pics? (sorry, don't mean to remind you of it anymore than you have to)
Well I hope you enjoy the insurance $ and come back strong.

It really hurts when you lose a car ... just when it's all sorted out.
Yeah, buy it back.
Shouldn't be more than $2K as per "salvage value" if it was totaled.
Still don't know what I'll be doing with my turbo motor
... presently it's for sale from/at/by Steve@sgt-racing.com (as are some other remaining parts and stuff).
Image station album of my 97's demise.
Swerved to miss a "few" deer crossing a country road, and subsequently spun and backed it into a tree ...

im just sick of the honda image, especially around here. and i think its time for rear wheel drive. i have a line and a beautifull FC3S thats going for dirt cheap, so ill have plenty left over for minor work.
thanks for the salvage info. i have a friend with a del sol who wants my engine, so ill still get to see my baby in spirit. if its only 2 grand to buy it back i can cut him a good deal. i still have all my recipts, and pics of every aftermarket bolt in that engine, and my insurance compny seems willing to work with me so i dont get too ripped off. i just hate that another 97 is gone, it really breaks my heart. i went and took pics yesterday, and ill be able to post a few as soon as i get back to my own computer. its kind of funny, but through all the twisted sheet metal and bent frame rails, you see a perfect, untouched intercooler and pipe sticking out, like the car tried to save its own engine. ok, maybe im getting a little crazy.

Which is perfectly understandable. If a drunk ran into, and totaled, my car, they'd have to lock me up to keep me from hurting someone.

Looks like 3 97's in the last two weeks (2 totaled, 1 stolen).

I will be going to go and pick Mike up tomorrow so we can see what is good on the car, and Watch out for the Speed-Factor Del Sol with the 97-109 Heart Transplant, the Super Teggy will live on.
as for it's value, use autotrader, honda-tech, ITRCA, yahoo classifieds, and cars.com to find others for sale from across the country to show them it's value.. that and a bit of persistance on it's value should get you a fair price..
aftermarket parts are a toss up.. my advice is not to argue for them if they're going to let you buy it back..

hope that drunk bitch went to jail, anyway gald you're ok. and i had a little talk with my insurance company (allstate) about my car value and so forth, and he told me it was a good idea to get it appraised and notarised in case of something happening. so i would suggest everyone to do so, that way there's no argument to what the car is/was worth, it's right there in writing
Good to know you and yo girl are both good but Damnit thats another 97 R. Not just any R but a Turbo R and its fucked that we have lost 2 97 ITR-T but what can I say **** happens. I can relate to you a little bit because i was rear ended about a few weeks ago by a drunk chick too. Sorry to hear about the lost and I hope you have just as much fun with your new car as you did with the R.
I'm sorry to see 109 leave us, She was a killa! I am just glad to say that I was able to put in some wrench time in as well as to feel her fury. "It is better to have loved and lost than it is to never had loved at all." But dont worry 97 109 will be back but back as a targa top
!
!
Sorry about the car- glad you two are ok.
As for Hondas and Acuras being a bad scene- Who cares, If the car does right by you and holds up well...Fug'em
As for the value of your car.. If the Ins Co gives you a hard time you could show them the lists (check my sig and on ITRCA.com) to show that these are rare and getting more rare.
Good luck

thanks for the suggestions guys, ill start getting evidence together now in case they try to screw me. the RX7 isnt going to be my main car, but its a great deal, and already mildly fast. i dont really have the heart, or the time to start a new project right now.
