Default Another One Bites the Dust

I went to a Shelby Club event today at Waterford Hills in Michigan and a cw type R lost its life there today. The driver was unharmed, but the car was rolled and it looks like a total loss. They only get rarer by the day. No, I do not know the name of the owner or how to reach him for all you would-be engine swappers.

After that moment of silence ... I'd like to ask a self-serving question.
And did it have a cage? and if not ...
Did the car look as bad (pancaked?) as the rest of the mustang and M3 flip pics we've seen lately?

Ok heres a question, Guys.
Someone tried yanking off (almost sounds funny when put this way) the rear spoiler on my 97 R yesterday morning!!
And, being the performance oriented type of person I am (aren't we all..), I was considerein the Mugen rear spoiler as a replacement, ... but what about the aesthetic considerations of having a "clean" 97 vs. going a bit "ricer"?

I really dont like the square look of the Mugen, I heard it is functional though, I would stick with stock, have it repainted.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, but the wing needs to be replaced (they didn't do too much to the rear hatch so it can prolly be "reshaped").

The only thing I'd worry about is whether you'd attract even more attention from the people who tried to get the first wing.
Very good point, the thieves might come back and this time see a Mugen spoiler now that they wil try to rip off.

Thanks George, .. that almost seemed like a compliment.

I'm not sure if they actually wanted it, more like they just wanted to screw with the car (though there were two other cars a couple blocks away wherein one was missing a radio and pass. window, and a RAV was missing a steering wheel/airbag).
So since my difficulty is mostly cosmetic I guess I came out of it ok, .... had a bad feeling about parking on the corner that night!

This was a "light roll" at a very low speed. The A pillars were both totally smashed down and the roof sloped down pretty much as a straight line from the B pillars to the base of the windshield, but the B pillars didn't deform down much. I think that had more to do with it only rolling once, and the front corner of the car getting the brunt of the impact, than it did with the B pillars being especially strong. Keep in mind that she was going like 25 or 35 when she rolled it. What might have happened at higher speed or with multiple rolls is purely speculation.

I think this was my last event at Waterford. Too many crazy curbs, walls, and dropoffs where you can roll. Today I was working a corner and a friggin' deer even ran across the track! I've seen a bunch of cars bite it there. The R is too precious to risk it. See you at Gingerman where the runoffs are large and the walls far away.
