duct tape and bailing wire....just kidding.
there is a carbon tab on the final product that mounts to the knucle of the car. It rotates and pivots as you turn the steering wheel. I am not going to put up a final picture of the product untill the patent has been approved, just a bit of security is all....
thanks for your interest.

That could be years.
That could be years.
yes it could take awhile i agree....they will attach with a "tab" that is on the duct, that will attach to the knuckle where the two screws go for the o.e. brake line location... it clears the shock fork and shock body in a lock to lock turn as well.
Do you have any other questions?
The final product pictures will be posted next week, I have one set of ducts in production and scheduled for final fitment next week, after fitment is done, pics will be done of them installed on the car and a loose part...
thanks again for your interest...

$80/pair, so these are about $200 more.
As far as I can tell, these are of very similar design with the same attachment to the knuckle and the same fluted opening that will direct air to both the side and the middle of the rotor. They must have their hose attachment on the bumper side of the car to be IT legal so their orientation is likley the same as mine. The major difference would be weight since you can't actually see these once you install the wheel. I didn't get mine on the scale, but the shipping box says 2 lbs which means that each duct is (*edit* 6 oz each duct per the designer). I imagine that the CF ducts are mere ounces.

Why not just single layer hand-laid fiberglass, maybe two layer? Those look to have enough shape to have decent strength with just one or two layers? The carbon ones aren't more two are they? Could be the budget version at maybe 30% more weight.

Nice thought Ian. Gee maybe I wasn't smart enough to do the a "cheaper" way...NOT...what do you know about making these types of products?
The idea of carbon, is because the resin is so expensive for fiberglass OR carbon to resist the heat at the rotor (do you know how hot 575 deg. F is?), that you'll melt the double layer fiberglass, to save a mere 10 bucks? So why not just use the carbon instead of cheap *** fiberglass?
So you see, Ian, trying to make something cheaper doesn't always work, durablility and loosing a race due to poor craftsmanship is not something that people want either....so you spend a few dollars less to make them in fiberglass and they fail costing you a 300 dollar race entry, and a possibly a wrecked car...was it worth saving 10 bucks? you decide...
got to love america, free speech...i just love how people try to cut down your work.
I have over 600 dollars in prototype work, molds, and materials, just to get one duct put out there for all to see...man o man...I tell ya...thanks for your input IAN, wait till you post something, I can't wait to be negative....

Championships aren't won on being cheap, but rather looking for ways to maximize a cars potential. I ran a set of metal ducts last year and they worked great, so I just took my design to another level to make them lighter and flow more air.
I apologize to Ian for my comments, but this project has been very difficult, and expensive. I have over 600 dollars in mold costs, and the quality is very high, I have worked with a tin mock up, then a cad design, to final product over the last season to arrive at this final and now ready product.
I guess I didn't expect so many people to focus on price only and for that I am sorry to have lashed out at you IAN...seeing how your an engineer, I am sure you understand.
Also included with a set of the ducts is a carbon fiber clipboard for no additional cost. I was going to include the clipboards as a surprise, but feel that I should let everyone know that they are not only getting brake ducts for the price.
I don't have pics of the clipboard yet, expecting to get that set up next week.
I hope all of you have a great weekend...

haha. No problem, CHRIS. No hard feelings either, CHRIS.
Your right, CHRIS, I don't know everything about composites, CHRIS. Most of my composites experience was helping the guys who understood the crap. Truthfully I don't know what the maximum temps of fiberglass or carbon are but thought that it might be able to take it. Guess I missjudged the proximity to the caliper.
Thanks for answering my question with good real information. Intellectual discussions are the best use of message boards.
Maybe I'll look into a set after I get sick of you out braking me, CHRIS.

Hi ADam-
I remember at the Hyperfest at Beaver run last season, that you got dq'd for something, what was it? weight or something...i forgot to ask you about it...
I will have new pics set up next week, with the mounting tabs, and a high gloss finish on them....stay tuned.

eek... for what kind of weight savings? 3oz each side?
I'll just take a poop before getting on track... that'll be worth the $200.
nice product though

if your poop is worth 200 dollars why are you not selling it? LOL
there is more to the duct than just weight savings..think about it...the metal ducts absorb heat, and once they are bent, they are throw aways..
thanks for you compliment though...they are not for everyone, unless your looking for maximum airflow to your rotors, and a decrease in your braking zones.
It is kind of like tires..you run what you want to because of price vs. performance, some make it an issue to have the best, others don't..
