theres a scammer going around buying cars with fraudulent cashiers check
Last night my friend sold his rhd ef9 (gunmetal) TO A GROUP OF SCAMMERS!
they gave him a cashiers check, we were fishy about it, so we held on to the pink slip till the check would clear, we got it all in writing, and they took off with the car. This morning my friend cashed the check, and it was false. Now he has no car, please do not post any negetive feedback, I just want to warn everyone that there a group of scammers claiming that they are from "C&C motorsports" It was two black guys, one tall, the other about 5.8 or so, beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they were also driving a dumped white ek coupe with euro taillights, clear headlights, and a yellow and red dealer plate

If the police don't catch these guys then they're obviously not trying. It seems like it would be pretty easy to set them up.

yea, he still has the title, unfortunatly, all hes gonna get is a rolling shell. My friend called the owner of c&c ms, he said they have done this to a couple other guys, so far, about 5 cars, and an itr swap....

This is why you never accept a check period.
All it takes for me or anyone to make a fraud check is to have any decent graphics program.
If you're going to accept a check, do not give them the keys to your car (or anything else for the matter) until you have gone to the bank and cashed the check. Have the person, and friend of yours with a car come too. If the check clears, make the sale in the parking, you now have cash, he now has the car.
Otherwise, if they are writting you a check, how much harder is it for them to hit the bank and get the money insted, not very. So botom line, just dont take a check.

last time i talked to the cops they had a warrant out for the dudes arrest. I willcalll the cops and tell them about this. Same mother ******* too. scammed me out of 5 grand for my ITR swap
I have a similar situation I believe. I have a car listed on a local classified and autotrader. I got a response from some guy in the UK. His emails have no punctuation and no capitalization.
He says he wants to send me a check for 7300 and I have to send the 3100 to some shipper. I figured if he sent the check and it cashed, there would be no problem. I asked him for some contacts or info in my last email and he hasnt responded.
Me thinks it is a scam.

never accept anything other than cash. period. end of story. i thought that was pretty simple, i guess some people like to learn the hard way.
hope you get your car back
hope you get your car back
Exactly.
I always have people asking me to take a check when I sell a car.
My answer is always 'yeah right'. I only deal in cash...if you don't feel comfortable handing me cash, go put it in my bank, and then we can deal.
