EXPO 4: Plan B Discussion . . .
Here is some background. We need about 60 people to start to cover our costs on the events we are looking at. We have about 20 paid. EPGONZALES has done a decent job getting a few people to pay but in the last week or so we have only seen 4 payments and I have only gotten about 5-6 emails about paying. Considering we need 40 more paid these 10 are not going to save the Expo alone.
In anticipation of this I started contacting tracks. They were receptive and I am excited about some of our options as I expect you guys will be. We are really late in the game for that so some tracks are really nice but have weekday dates. I believe we got Thursday/Friday dates from them so it could be worse. This didn't really save us money and in fact most tracks will cost a bit more due to their reputation and popularity (not much more but please pay attention). Dave has produced an information page that I would like everyone to review and discuss the options. Please make sure to note dates (weekday vs. weekend event), cost, and track. We have some killer options but even to make these happen we will need about 45-50 people signed up and paid by the end of the month. We don't need this many people to make the deposit but I need that many people to be confident we have the participation needed to make the event happen.
In a day or so after this topic is worn out Dave and I will put up a voting page. We will likely allow you to vote for your top 2 or 3 choices. Those votes will have a points system on them and the track with the most points will be the track the Expo to move to. Notice that Arizona is STILL an option so west coast people if you can get the votes together and will step up we can still keep it out west.
I am also proposing that we do it in this fashion from now on. There is no need to follow a rotation that no one in certain areas care about. The tracks that win the vote will obviously have the support of the majority and that makes the Expo better.
So discuss away . . . http://www.itrca.com/events/expo4tracks.php

Honestly I was pretty excited about Summit Point since it is a weekend event and not too much more $$. VIR, MidOhio and Road ATL are also killer tracks.

I support the decision to use this type of setup in the future instead of the rotation. That's a community decision though and I'm not technically part of the ITR owning community anyways
Also, another purpose for this thread is for the discussion of the tracks listed. Discussion from experience with the track is preferred, but any is welcome.
Game on.
Also, take a good look at each track. We have dates at some *very* popular tracks, including the current and past SCCA runoff circuits. Also, the new track from Summit Point.

I would love to do VIR. I think its definitely worth the extra few $$'s.
**** barber... so expensive and no Takumi or Violet. So that rules that track out right there.
I was going to say Mid Ohio or VIR... but no pest at Mid Ohio, so I say VIR.
what about Summit pt? Good track? As good as VIR?
Like Craig said, I'm not interested in driving Beaver again since we did it last year. Unless the full course is done, and it isn't, so
to Beaver this year.

Edit - Changed my mind. Everyone is right. We've already been to BeaveRun already.
1.) VIR
2.) Road Atlanta + Mid Ohio - tied for second place
3.) Slummit <---probably end up being there like 3 times this year and that's not including Expo if it's moved here

Assdime: I share your opinion of Beaver. It's a nice track, but there are two things that come to mind.. 1 well we just did that course.. and 2.. it's july 4th weekend. That means some of us WILL get kicked off the premises and possibly arrested
I'm at a loss for words... But if it has to be East this year, I guess...
Mid Ohio
Just had to add in...
Estimated Total Driving Time:
9 hours, 5 minutes Estimated Total Driving Distance:
548 miles, TO Mid Ohio...

Maybe this is the painful kick the WC's needed.

Too bad Mid-Ohio isn't pet friendly...I've been there, that place (both track and surroundings) is simply beautiful.
VIR looks pretty awesome
...but, I'm not driving, so I shouldn't really have a vote.

Why no dates at Barber? And what makes it so expensive? Just because it's new..?
Well, at the moment, Beaver is the only track I've run.. And I liked it, but I do think we should go somewhere else. Road Atlanta and Mid-Ohio sounded very interesting......... Who's done Road Atlanta? What'd you think? (goes to RR/AX to look for reviews)
I like the options though... prices aren't BAD, but a little more than AZ.. Is the voting anonymous? Smitdog's gonna be mad at me if I don't vote for summit and I don't want him to know..

This is Impressive as always! Great track choices! Weekend dates would be nice, but I am able to attend whenever Expo is held.
I would love to see it at VIR, but honestly I will cast my vote when possible and be there no matter where it is. If it is "moved" East!
Thanks Trey!!!

Yeah honestly, I was looking foward to be out west for a week or three... and also hoping to hit Laguna seca too after or before the Expo.
Com'on you bastards Sign up!
As for my money, I need a bit more time to round up the funds- not easy being out of work
and my delay on paying has nothing to do with east or west.

Well, I don't know if we planned to publish who voted for what. I haven't decided how I wanted to do it yet.. I might make it so you have to login to ITRCA (since drivers had to do so to register anyways) and only allow those who are registered (paid or not) to vote. But then, people might just register to vote with no intention of going.

Well on the Voting, Can you (mods & Trey) see who is putting in bs votes and delete them as it counts valid ones?
But promise to never tell who voted for what?

I havent had a chance to check the tracks yet, and to be honest, Ive never driven any of them and wouldnt know which is better anyway. I will check the tracks, and as long as I dont have 4 days of driving to and from, then it shouldnt be a problem whereever its located. I just hope that a weekday event doesnt hurt many peoples chances of going or else we may not even get the support out in the East and the whole thing will be canned.
From the experiences and whatnot Ive heard so far, my gut says to pick Mid Ohio.

We realize that most probably haven't driven on the tracks.. but I'm hoping some can. I guess I'll go edit my posts and allow other opinions
Anyways, I honestly don't see how a weekday event hurts. After I thought about it, it'll take the same number of vacation days either way (LESS in some cases). For most of the tracks listed it'll take 4-6 days for me (I have to be there a day early with Trey) of vacation time.. AZ is the most days since that includes a holiday that I'm not counting as vacation
But, I don't mind it. I still prefer AZ becauase I will likely NEVER get a chance to go out to AMP again.

We should vote in a forum. Only votes as replies in the thread. That way all votes can be tallied (not a poll), since you actually have to post your vote.
That is the only way I can think of to vote fairly... and get rid of the idiots who arent going but can't keep their traps shut.
