Default Type R or LS Turbo in a CIVIC

Ok im planning to have my 95 civic coupe for a long time so what should i go for that would burn lower b series for quite a while? Right now i have an LS and planning to boost it but i dont think i want to keep it for long cause i might blow something. I've heard alot of things about Type R and im impressed. I dunno, what do you guys think?

Type-r hands down. Nothing better the a stock motor that has lots of potential and nothing better than some good power that has not been tampered with.

Type-r has lots of reliability if you care about that also.

I feel that once you tamper with an engine it will never be safe again IMO and won't feel as reliable.

it comes down to reliability.. Boosted LS will hand the R motor it's *** in your exact chassy and be cheaper, but if you're that worried about reliability go with an N/A motor.

It depends on what you want.

For reliability for sure its the Type R

For power It the LS turbo

heh. a turbo LS @10psi PROPERLY TUNED will be just as reliable as a type-r. also if you happen to blow it, throw a new shortblock in for DIRT cheap

VAFC's are good for tuning purposes, but unless you've got extensive modifications you won't see much but mainly midrange gains.

If you want a hassle free good time car, then get a type r, if you want something to play with, and have time to tune, and most of all, patience, go turbo! And a ls motor is a good place to start!

If you can't answer these questions yourself, then i recommend u stay an an NA car. Learn your facts/info before you jump into the world of boost. Its not a world for amateurs.

Do what I did, turbo a C5. Actually to answer your post I have been driving my turbo'd car for 8 months now and I have not had any problems. I would say LS turbo or any other B series with a turbo but LS would probably be your cheapest bet. Just remeber to get a wastegate with a low boost spring in it. Then just leave your boost controller home and you wont have any problems. Thats what I do so I dont turn it up on a daily basis.

that's great advice regarding the boost controller...you never know, you might get itchy and want to crank up the boost...that could lead to problems...

B18C5 would probably be more reliable depending on the condition of the motor you get. The LS turbo would be fun, quick, and reliable if you build it right and don't tun the boost up to high.

he's right.....i've had my C1 turbo'd for over four years now,and it's just as reliable as when i first got it.assuming your motor is in good condition to begin with, and you keep up on the maintenance, you should have no problems.

No need to rebuild, an LS already has low compression...
