Annoying RATTLE in 04 coupe
I've only had the car for about 2 weeks and love it soo far BUT... I've started to notice a loud crackling, creaking noise comming from the windshield/pillar area on the drivers side. It only does it over bumps, which is pretty much all the times so its getting really annoying. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and found a fix for it. I only have about 1000 miles so I won't be taking it in to the dealer for its first oil change for another few thousand. I'm trying to avoid taking it in just for this noise but I don't know if I can hold out much longer. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Noises could be anything and everything..... absolutely no way to tell without being able to hear it and try and find it firsthand. Just take it to the dealer, they'll fix it. I work at a dealer and we get cars in just for a squeak or rattle quite often. Last week we had a town car that we had for almost 2 weeks trying to figure out a rattle when going over bumps (just like yours). Had the whole friggin car apart just about, everything we found was tight. Turned out to be the steering shaft was bad and floppin around a bit.
Well, i've tried to find it by feeling around on the panels and listening closely but its hard to do while I'm driving. It almost sounds like its coming from the middle of the windshield but thats probably because the noise is bouncing off it.
What I'm afraid of is the dealer having to keep my NEW car a while and them having to take the hole dash and panels apart. I hate them digging all around on a new car. Once you take stuff like that apart, it never seems to go back together the same way. I'm hoping its a quick fix or something common that they can take care off without taking the car apart.

if its that new and something is rattling, i would drive it right up their **** and make them fix it while you sit there with a cold one and watch. But thats just me and i dont know if they will let you consume on the premises.

You may want to call your Honda dealer and ask him to have a look in the DECEMBER 2002 Service News about an issue they had with the 2003 Accord Coupes in the area you are describing.
They do not list this for the 2004 ... but it is POSSIBLE that it may apply to your vehicle.
I work at a Honda dealer and we have found some cars with this problem. It amounts to a clip not secured properly at the bottom of the left windshield pillar.
