CIVIC SHOCKS! which ones are best for you?
hi all. im tryin to perfect my ride's suspensions and im tryin to make a decision on which shocks to get. ive already got h&r race springs (2.5 front, 2.3 rear), skunk2 front arms camber kit and all 4 struts barfor my ride. now its time for some new shocks. which ones works for you and which ones do you recommend? im tryin to go low budget so nothing crazy expensive. lol
How are the KYB agx and KYB gr-2?
?
? whats the difference and which would be better for my 2.5 drop?

i have H&R's as well. i went for the kyb AGX shocks. they are not to expensive and they are four way adjustible, wich is nice for street or track aplications. and the ride is quite nice. i also have Energy Suspencion bushings, they rock too.

KYB only warrant their AGX struts for up to a 1.5" drop - anything lower and the warranty is void and YES they can tell.
The KYB GR-2's are just a basic gas strut, not too performance oriented and just slightly better than a stock strut. I have them on my 91 CRX with Tein S-Tech springs, I'm not impressed but they get the job done.
The 2.5" drop that you are talking about will require some heavy duty struts like Koni Yellows. They are pricey but will handle that drop and give you some dampening adjustment. Bilstein also makes a good strut and the Tokico Illumina's wouldn't be that bad either.

i would go for koni reds....its worth the money...dont get tokico blues...they sucks imo....i totaled my car with bad shocks...= x
yea, i lost the blues after about 2 years, they went to hell pretty quick. i havent had any problems with the AGX's yet. and im at 2in. drop.
I've got the adjustable illuminas and love it. Soft setting, applying weight on the trunk you can bounce the car down about 1", with hardest setting of 5, doesn't move at all.

i have the tokico illuminas in my DA with ground controls at about 2.5" in the front and 2.0" in the rear great ride no bounce ...you can set them for street or for track ...or the agx's arent bad at all either ...i would recomment either one ...
So the Skunk2 Camber kit does fit on our EF I only seem to find them for EG or EK Civic. Does the EG camber kit fit our EF or do I have to find EF only Skunk2?

I have koni yellows and i like them. you can also adjust the height with them. I wanted to try out the 89 accord bilsteins cause i heard it was a smooth ride but i havent been able to get enough information on it....

yea, seriously. if there is a way to get them to work w/o adverse effects on suspension geometry id buy them. i need more camber

IMO, camber kits are useless. i had mine on for like 3 hours, and i'm not even joking. as long as your toe is adjusted properly you shouldn't really have tire wear issues. unless you do "MAD BURNOUTS YO!"

I am sure I will need it when I do Autox. So it might not be useless.

you wont want a camber correction kit when autocossing. if anything, youll want more camber than you have. i wanna get -3deg but theres nothing out there but offset bushings/balljoints which no one wants to press in for me.
i figgered i'd chime in here....
I, am a poor, dumb drag racer with a weekend racer 90 si, that i used to daily drive. I have a camber kit. I had the alignment shop set it at .5 deg so i got good contact patch but it handles terrible.....****......***.
my .02 on camber kit is save your money and just get a alignment and test drive it before leaving. or just go to a good shop.

yea, if you have a 2in drop that should provide perfect camber for autoX. zero camber would suck
