Sorry to reply to a locked post......... but...

I contacted him about buying his car, and ran a carfax report. The report showed 2 accidents, filed by police report. This isnt really a problem for me, if the work was done correctly - but the seller provided me with the name of the previous owner, and the body shop that supposedly did the work - but when i called the body shop, they had no idea what i was talking about, and dont remember a CW ITR in the shop in the past 3 years, would not put me in contact with the previous owner, and then got uncooperative in general (i've still got the emails, i think).

This car may be 100% legit - but he was just rather uncooperative at producing the documentation to prove it. I know that carfax is not an inclusive report, but if there are questions about a car's history, i'd do my best to have proper documentation of it before selling the car. IMO.

My $.02, take it with a grain of salt.
