Default Hawker Battery.. (Pics, Install, a bit of DIY)

My original battery took a dive recently, sooo I picked up this Hawker for $30.00 the brass terminals were another $12, and shipping was $10.

In total 'bout $52.. not bad.

Picked it up here.
http://www.surplusev.com/

The battery weighs ~11lbs.. appx half of the OEM battery. Also it's tiny, so you may have to mod a bit to get it clamped down safely.

It will also mount sideways, upsidedown etc..

My old battery was on it's way out, so when I would try to start my car, it would take several cranks...lights dimming etc.. to get it to turnover.

Just looking/holding this battery it looks like it won't stand a chance on cranking that bish over, perhaps it could power my MP3 player ...but much to my surprise, it cranked right up

Pics for you visual learners...

*Ill call it... Mini Battery *

Did I mention it's *tiny*.. Damn! I knew there would be some kind of DIY.

If my mother only knew the things that went down on her kitchen counter....

DIY ownz!

Yea, just like your brain, apparent by your spelling prowess.

And also a reminder that RJ is too small for JDM condoms.

On Topic: Nice l00king setup there. Good work! How much lighter is the battery, did you do a comparison???

A tap and die set..It's used to thread or re-thread holes, or cylindrical objects ie screws, bolts etc.

make sure to get metric. Mine cost about $40.. but that was @Lowes, and it was sort of an emergency, so I just picked up the closest thing.

You can pick up a decent set @harbor freight for cheap.

Good tool to have for sure

...Damn, the harbor freight one even has more die's than mine

It was 6mmx1.00

You may wanna take the nut off the post, take it to wherever you are getting the die, and try running the same size tap into the nut to verify.. then you take the according die..

ie, if the 6mmx1.00 tap fits the nut, take the 6mmx1.00 die

i have been running this same battery for over a year now with ZERO problems. it has 360cca and weighs 10.8 lbs, compared to the stock of 30.4lbs (these are exact weights, taken by myself)

i made a similiar post when people were asking me which battery i had in my car here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=695215
