Did you reuse your alternator belt, or is that new also? If the belt is new and it squeals, then i would have to say that you got a bad one. one way of a quick fix is pour a can of Coke Cola on it. The syrup from there will make the belt stick to the pulley a lot better. If I was you though, I would just go ahead and replace the belt with a new one.

it's a new belt from acura. does it have to be really tight for the squeeking to stop?

put pressure on the belt with your finger... there should be very little play when you push down on it... if it has alot of play then i would tighten some more.

A good rule...
If the distance between pulley centers is 7-11 in, deflection should be ~1/4in.
12-16 inches...1/2 in. for a V-belt, 1/4 in. for a ribbed belt.

Deflection is how much you can move the belt by pushing or pulling when it is installed on the pulleys.

Also try some oil/lubricant on the pulleys themselves.

yea, but how hard to you push on it? If you push very hard you can deflect it quite a bit.

The way to see if it is tight enough would be to grab the belt with your fingers and twist it, if it can be twisted a 1/2 turn your tight enough. That is just my 2 cents
