Default building engine

i got a b16 in my crx. i want to run atleast 13's. i was wondering if someone could tell me which mods would help out the most and wouldnt harm my engine. i dont want any force induction like nos or turbo.what should i get besides the basic bolt ons besides intake, headers opr exhaust?

if you're wanting to run that @ least a 13.999 which would be very easy to do, you have to do a few things especially if you wanna stay away from FI, N20.

TRACTION, TRACTION, TRACTION

make sure u have a good tranny, w/ decent gear ratios for your settup, and a LSD and lightened flywheel would do wonders for you '60 and 1/4 time. really, an lsd will be needed especially if you want those faster times w/ a FWD. i'd say go w/ the basic built head (cams, valvetrain, etc). other than that, some lightening of the vehicle would help. cf hood etc, and lighter wheel tire combo w/ stickier compounds is always a plus.

You don't want to put the ITR pistons in killer, it will lower your CR.

Don't worry about the pistons.

Here's a nice little recipe for 13's:

An Intake
Header
Exhaust
ITR Intake Manifold with bigger throttle body
ITR Cams and valvetrain
Lighten Car
Good tranny, good traction

Easily 13's.

I heard the CTR intake cam is a nice upgrade for cheap.

But I read somwhere a guy did just a Jun (dont know what stage) intake and it made a world of diff. compared to Toda intake and exhaust.

Whatever you do, stay small with things seriously to many guys on here put on big as intakes and exhausts, our cars lack torque which is increased by velocity, our cars already have plenty of flow both intake and exhaust.

Just keep that in mind, basic bolt-ons will help but be choosy and dont get things that everyone else has, dont be afraid to do alot of customization as far as intake and exhaust goes.

yeah...thats what they say, but people who say that can kiss my ***. seriously, the gains that you're gonna get w/ that as opposed to a regular ITR aren't even worth the extra money you're gonna spend for that CTR intake cam. Spend it on ssomething else. Some places charge 350 for that intake cam, and only 275 for the ITR (new) the shiet AINT worth fuggin 75 bucks

use ctr parts,

i would say:

ctr cams
itr valve springs (or ctr)
ctr pistons
itr intake man.

that right there will get you into the 13's easy.

not true, only 1 cam is different the other is the exact same, and your not really gonna get great gains out of them unless you raise the comp. hence ctr pistons, yes ctr stands for civic type r.

yes 5-8 whp isnt bad.... but with a comp ratio closer to 12:1 you will get MUCH more impressive gains.

Use type R intake valve springs on the exhaust side. Use stock intake valve springs.

Type Rs got lighter valves, so the springs are lighter. The intake valve is larger (and so heavier) so the intake valve spring will be stiffer than the exhaust spring.

B16s did not come with dual exhaust springs, but did come with dual intake springs, so only the exhaust springs need changed.

Info I found and have not tested, but it was a reliable source for other info.

For an intake mani, look for a Typhoon (can't remember company) it has gotten great results for $150. It is like a typeR w/ a slightly longer plenum to feed cylinder 1 better.
