I used a can of shoe waterproofer that you can get at any shoe store and an old credit card.

I've heard something about heating it with a blow dryer and using goo gone. Not too sure.

Heating with a hairdryer and using goof off works pretty good. Razor blade is about the most effective but you need a steady hand to make sure you don't dig into paint. Best thing I ever used was this rubber eraser wheel made for removing pinstripes. You use a power drill and it works just like an eraser and "rubs" the pinstripe off without hurting the paint. I have used it on a coupld cars and works good. Get it at any autobody/paint supply store. While you're there ask their advice, maybe they have a better method.

i used a razor blade and goo gone, but like somebody already said, make sure you have stable hands or else you dig into the paint. if the car is old, the sticker may chip in certain areas, but for the most part, once you get a little going with the razor blade, just pull gently and it starts to come off. use some goo gone for the sticky stuff left over. good luck!

ok fellas....i've been at it for like 2 hors now...goo gone and a credit card doesn't work...the razor srews up the paint....these pinstripes r painted on, so i bought some paint stripper and masking taped on either side of the strip, sprayed it let it sit for a sec ans scraped off the stipe....it works but i;m afraid it might go down to deep and mess up my actual paint....does anyone have any experience removein PAINTED ON PINSTRIPES??? if so, how did u do it?? thanks -Ryan

Get a eraser wheel for your drill, its the easyest way to remove stickers hands down.

Alright, I did this before. I had a civic that was in an accident in the front and honda restored it and to be a lazy ***, they painted on the damaged pin striping section so I had both vinyl and painted pinstripings on. It was a pain in the *** to take them off.

First, for the vinyl, I used a hair dryer to heat the section up, then adhesive remover from auto zone in spray can and then use a PLASTIC SPACKLE from home depot. Why the hell would you put a razor blade to your paint . But that will get off all the vinyl parts.

As for the painted sections, get a very smooth rag. Get some auto paint thinner from walmart or autozone or something, then pour a little on the rag and rub the painted pin stripe. You might see a little body paint on it but the pinstriping will come off way before you start to eat at the body paint. Heating the paint or doing this when its warm does help the paint come off faster.

Hope that helps. I did this myself so I know it works.

leave the pinstrips ... it looks good with them on.

but if you reallyw ant to take them off, I have found two methods that work well.

1) boil water -> let the water cool down a little -> poor over the stripes -> peal stripes off with ease.

2) use a hot air blow dryer and peal.

hope this helps

the paint might be brighter then your fadded paint, so when and IF you do take them off, you still might be able to see them? ieee

i would try a gasoline on a towel and get the pinstriping wet and scrape it . but dont forget to clean off the gas with water.

Did anyone read before they posted? He said that he tried all the tricks we told him and that the pinstripe is paint and not a sticker. Hopefully the pinstripe was painted on top of the clear coat, most likely it is.

My friends and I had this same problem with my friend's Accord...

The pinstripe was a sticker, back in 1995 when the car was new ....it had eventually baked on to the car. We ended up heating it a bunch of times and just chipping away at it with our fingernails...it took hours, haha. Once it was done, you could still see where the pinstripe used to be, but washing it a few times and then waxing helped.

Well, there wouldnt be a clear coat, and you'd still be able to see the line if you got up close...but it would probably work out pretty well.

I'd say take it to a body shop first and see what they saw. You might be able to pay them like $20 to mess around with it and then it's their responsibility not to screw it up.
