there should be an exaust manifold stud and nut in that hole. If you have a leak there then you need a valve cover gasket.. and get that air cleaner fixed asap. Your just sucking **** in thats doing harm to your motor.

I think he's OK on that threaded hole. I'm not near my car, but I believe my '91 CRX-Si has that hole open. It's probably for affixing a bracket for some option we don't have, but another D15/16 uses (maybe PS pump bracket on a Civic EX, etc.). Its definitely not for the last exhaust manifold stud/bolt or else you would see the flange and gasket hanging over it.
91sihatchback - Yes, get a new valve cover gasket and replace it. Make sure to torque the valve cover down to spec and evenly. Also use Hondabond (or equivalent in the factory recommended places. If you have to drive with that air-cleaner for a couple days, try and temporarily mend it with duct tape or something so you get filtered air.

Buy a valve cover gasket kit from napa or some other parts store, you save money and you get the valve stem seals and new washers.
And tape that filter up cause thats not a good idea to leave it open.

For honda-bond just go to an auto store and get permatex ultra grey (something like that) same stuff but cheaper. The hole is for an a/c bracket or something, nothing big. I have the same problem with the damn valve cover, it's pretty annoying. It seems to soak up the cover.

You know how the valve cover has a semi-circle on each end? You only need to put a little dab of Hondabond/Permatex Grey (RTV) in the "corners" that are created on the head at those points.

You'll actually spend a little more there in most cases, and their parts are crappy. Honda offers a kit with the stud grommets, but you have to ask for it.

No, that part is under the hole that he is talking about. The hole is for a power steering bracket I am pretty sure.

Way to blow something out of proportion. I wasn't arguing, I was informing. The part he is talking about is the black piece under the hole you are talking about that attaches to the engine mount on the side.
btlfed dont know ****, that hole is for pulling the motor
but serioulsy, i do pull motors with it
and i believe some of the SIR1 b16s have a hole in that exact place with a p/s pump on it..
