Civic Tire size
ive had a 225/14 on my 98 coupe.. im pretty sure it was too wide for the wheel. no rubbing issues. it wasnt a street tire though. not sure if this will help
Depends on the offset of the wheel and how stiff your suspension is. They'll probably rub big time if you have soft suspension.
The car that I co-drove last year was a '90 Civic Si with 235/45-13 Kumhos on 13x8s with a 5" backspace. It rubbed the fenders with stock suspension, but didn't rub after GC coilovers were installed with rates of 550f/500r . . .

my roommate had a 225/50-15 tire on his car for a while.with 400/300lb springs and a ride height of about 1" fender to tire, they rubbed on a pretty regular basis.this was on a 7" wide wheel(sorry,i have no idea what offset).of course, his tire had a larger diameter, but the width is the real issue anyway.i definately wouldn't run these every day on the street, but with the right suspension setup and proper offset wheel,it should be workable.

that's gonna be pushing that tire pretty far out.determining factor is going to be how low the car is.

Acutally the height of the tire is just as important for clearance and rubbing issues. A shorter tire can "tuck" into the fender much better under camber as the suspension compresses. A 225-50-14 is a good 1" shorter than a 225-50-15...
Anyway, i'm pretty sure there are plenty of IT CRXs that run that tire size. Last year we did some testing with 205-55-14 on a 14x6.5 rim with 30 offset and there was plenty of room for more rubber in there. We then ran some 235-45-13 without any rubbing on 13x7 rims with a riduculous zero offset. No problems either but that tire is waaay shorter than the 225-50-14...
