Default 88 Civic Dx?

Heres the story, I got my moms 88 civic dx, 5 speed, thats pretty much all i know about it. I know it has a fuel leak, in the fuel line, the clutch "could" be going, and the engine kinda idles funny, higher then lower then higher, then lower.

My questions are, whats the engine(specs)? How expensive and hard to replace would the fuel line be? what could be wrong with the engine idle?Would it be worth it to fix it? and my dad said you have to pull the engine to change the clutch, Are new clutchs expensive and is it a hard process to pull the engine and change the clutch and such.

Sorry for the newbie questions, but no one else up to this point has been able to answer them.

Thank you

-Shaun

The idle problem could be a vacuum leak or TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) going bad. As far as the clutch replacement you do not have to pull the motor to change out the clutch. What makes you think its going bad? Have you adjusted the free play? I have an 88 DX that I have swapped a DOHC ZC into it is fun to drive and still gets 30-32 MPG. Does the car have any rust? If not it makes a good platform for many modifications. Its the second lights of that series only the HF s lighter.

A clutch will not be expensive for a stock dx, you only need to pull the tranny out to change it.
