Repairing Jason Kidd's JDM P13 from DOA status, no 56K 800x600
So Jason sends me this ecu, telling me it just flat out doesn't work. Since I LOVE a challange, I thought what the hell..... Worst case senario? I can't get it to work and it becomes parts. But after 4 hours of some back wrenching work, the damm thing actually runs!!!
All in all, I repaired 5 traces on top, 8 traces on the bottom and replaced 4 resistors.
Here are the pictures. (before then after)
Factory Eprom location, after cleaning and finding any and ALL lifted traces...
I also noticed these resistors looked out of place. After some research, they were the wrong values.
Under the ECU, after cleaning.
After the repairs were done.....
Top, you can see some of the traces I added.
Bottom, you can see ALL the traces I added and some of the solder joints that needed to be redone.
That is all, hope you enjoyed it.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Wow I must say that you are the man. Can i tell you that this was my origianl JDM p13 that never got an EGR code but one day I decided that I wanted to chip it out with a Spoon chip.. Well lets say 120 later plus going back and forth between 3 supposedly reputable people the ECU still was DOA and I had nothing to run my Type S...
AJ you are an ECU GOD. I must say.. Now how much do I owe ya... hehe

Needless to say I am now using an AG-Eng P28 chip that I can honestly say is the real deal plus I sent him my p13 just to see if he could get it back working...
lol All I wanted was a chipped p13. A year later and after going through 3 supposedly proficient ECU chippers I have finally found the right person..

Lildrgn - PM sent!
iakona - If you're local, I'd love to give this a crack. I have some ideas on how to remove it without getting a code, but so far I've gotten CEL's from doing this.

Depending on the ECUs you may be able to swap immobilizer boards. Some are daughter circuit boards soldered to the main ECU PCB. I know this is possible in the P5M, and it might be possible in the P5P.
