Default RSX type S is kinda good.. or my ITR (and me) just sucked..

Ok.. just got back from work at 11:00 PM... (stupid month end thing)
saw an RSX behind me.. I slowed down, he passed me and start revving..
no type S is written.. and I took it like a stupid man.
at the light, I gave about 1 car length thinking I am not in the mood for a road race...
but then, He smoke his tires @1st gear.. I thought, well.. I can kill him easily(thinking that it is just an RSX)..
so after about 3 car lengths, I start hitting my R...
he waited for me!! so when I was 1/2 car from him, I put the gear to neutral, just revving on him..(dunno why I did this.. maybe the extra OT that I got made me insane)
he pulled away, I tried to catch, but NO... He is just fast.
I guess I am just plainly stupid doing that.. not blasting away when I had the chance.. well... I was afraid of road race anyway(thanks to this H-Tech to keep on reminding me not to do so), but I feel (a little) like a loser.....

anyway, at the stop light, I asked him if that's a Type S and he said yes..
He asked if I got any mods, well.. my R is stock.. dunno about his(the light turned green and I didn't get the chance to ask)...

I think I better dyno my car.. I want to know the exact number at the wheel for my R..

Note: I didn't go near 8400 RPM during this little race.. I don't know whether he floored his RSX or not...
But yeah, I guess that Type S is a respectable car..

Now, I know how it feels to be a Sleeper NBP ITR... just like that Type S had me thinking that it is just an RSX, not a Type S, I made him a winner..

Don't be sad PiYoImuT... in street racing (light to light) almost anything can beat an R. I mean, a soccer mom in a Grand Caravan Sport can toast me if I'm not in a full attach mode. I wouldn't doubt RSX-S staying with R... but it out running you is just weird. (But, you didn't try.) Just tell him to show up at a autoX or roadracer. hehe.

Eh, it's a street race too many factors to account for. You win some, you loose some. I have heard of ITR's beating M3's on the street, so **** happens. I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you were shifting before 8400 line.

Thanks for the words..
after talking with Aleph, I feel a little relieved..
I will dyno my car (probably next week), and He will help me advance the timing..
I really want to know the Dyno number too..

I've never redline my R at the road (hit the limiter once just to know where the tach it will cut), I redlined it only in AutoX...
recently, I got CEL caused by the alarm(tap to ECU) and dirty injector so I've been driving slower than what I should be..
(with CEL, the Engine was shaking real bad, can't even rev to more than 4K)...
anyway... you are right about the straight... our R is not a Straight Runner..
a 97 M3 can't beat me on the curves but blowed me at the straight a couple weeks ago...

The question here is...what gear did you select after your neutral to play "catch up"? If you selected your gears well....like
down second if it's under 50, down third if it's under 80...and blipping gas is also required if you want a smooth transistion as you suddenly engage in VTEC. Also, in street racing, if the opponent punch the gas first, it's pretty hard for the one behind him to catch up, because he have at least 1-2 second advantage as you, the person behind him is unsure if it's clearly "go" or not.
So what matters is, when you are in full throttle and picking up speed, are you maintaining speed with him or he's pulling away from you. If he's pulling away from you, you are...losing.
Also, don't have a side-by-side acceleration showdown, the leading car's air stream is gonna slow you down. Follow behind him at all time (a little bid of taligate is good, but not much), as you are carrying speed and sees oppurtunity or he makes a mistake, then pass him.
Anyhow, this is some of my experience from high school years of rice racing Glad that you didn't participate much. Or else, you will have to get a hard-hit accident lesson to learn its stupidity. But.....sigh.....another RSX-S owner is gonna jump around and says he beat a Type-R when he don't know what the R stands for..... Yes, yes, yes. in AutoX, and Road racing, we can deal with our chubby, luxurious cousin. But in today's world of racing, where straight line acceleration means almost everything to evreyone in the racing scene. Us ITR owners are having some repressing times...

Umm........ Those weren't M3's. They were just regular 3 series BMW's (don't know which # exactly)
