quick ef swap question

Default quick ef swap question

ok my buddy has an 88 or 89 hatch.....its totally stock.....dpfi and its a 4spd.....he needs a new motor and i have a d16a6, he is pretty broke so im gonna hook him up with it for cheap.....now the question i have is can we swap the a6 in and use the dpfi and dx dizzy??? i think it should work but just wanted to check cuz he doesnt have the time/money to do the mpfi swap....thanks for the help

Yeah, you could take the a6 long block and swap it in place of his. Just use his DPFI intake manifold and distributor and it will work fine.

The D16A6 motor will bolt in just like the stock D15. Just reuse the entire DPFI intake manifold, distributor and ECU and there won't be any additional wiring or parts to change. Of course it's not going to perform much better than the D15 since you're using the DPFI setup, but if he's just in need of a replacement motor then it would be worth it.

ok cool thanks, i thought it would work, the only thing i wasnt sure about is that the a6 dizzy has a crank angle sensor, but im pretty sure that just helps the injector timing for mpfi, and its dpfi so it makes no difference.....not that it matters but what kinda power would you guess he will make.....hes not lookin to get a ton, just wondering if the .1 displacement and better cam will help when staying with the dpfi...
