Default which tire size to get...

im getting some 18x7.5 rims with G/C coilovers, but i dont know what tire size to get. either 215/40/18 or 215/35/18. im not going to slam my car cause i have a Mugen front bumper, i just want a sporty looking drop to eliminate some wheel gap.

any thoughts are appreciated

I had 215/35-18's on my 4th gen before my car got stolen. I loved how they drove, but some people will say that it's not worth it b/c it's easier to bend a rim. I think if you keep an eye out for potholes, you'll be fine.

Oh, and if you're gonna lower it significantly, you pretty much have to go w/ 35's b/c you'll scrub w/ 40's.

i have 18s and use 215/35/18 nitto 450s . not too expensive and i have not had any problems with potholes or anything. they take a beating and i havent had a flat tire yet. knock on wood. ride kinda sucks though and the rims are too damn heavy...thats why i am in the process of finding some 15s

225's might cause some fender rub depending on rim offset and suspension setup plus the 35 profile makes it that much easier to bust a rim in trade of a minimal contact patch increase

I would get a 225/35/18 tire and run a 17X7.5 or 17X8 rim.

offset should be +50 to +45MM

225's are too big I believe. For a 18 x 7.5 tire, either get a 215/35-18, or 215/40-18 if you're not too worried about rubbing.

I have a 97 prelude with 18x7.5 with nitto nt 555 225/40/18. Would not recommed going with 35 series. Unless you want rubberband for tire. 40 series is already a harsh ride could only image how bad 35 series would be.

35 wasn't that bad; you just feel everything on the road, which I prefered. 40's just look too fat; I like the rubber band look!

a 215/35/18 tire is too thin and if you hit a pothole can possibly damage the rim.

a 225/35/18 tire is thicker and wider....it has more sidewall, and you can run it with NO problems.

and a 18X 7.5" rim can fit a 225/35/18 tire.
