Default Should dealerships be reminded?

I have to bring my car into Acura tommorow for what is considered major repair (headgasket replacement). This will be the first time this dealership will be working on my car and don't know what to expect. The previous dealership managed to make 2 golfball sized dents in my fender and they had to repaint it.

Anyways, i don't want them to be pissed at me and do a shitty job but at the same time I want them to be careful. Before I hand my keys off to them should I just remind them to take extra care, etc.?

Appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Why do you need a head gasket replaced already?

If you don't trust them with your car, take it to someone whom you do trust.

Green R, its leaking oil from the headgasket.

My car is still under warranty which is why I have no choice but to bring it to the dealer.

Bring your car in extremely clean so they know how you take care of it. And also to show that you know there is no damage. They should get the point without you having to say anything

when I take my car to the dealer, i tell them there is no dent or scratch on my car, if I see anything when I get my car back, the dealer is responsible for it. Then the manager always take a really careful look at my car and they would be a lot more careful with it

I just dropped my car off. I told the service rep if their mechanics could be a little extra careful and told him about how the previous dealership dented my fender.

He replied in a sarcastic tone nice and that hes heard of other bad things happening at that dealership too. He told me that they won't do anything like that. Said the car should be ready sometime tommorow and that i'm the first in there with an RSX to get the headgasket replaced

I Hope everythingl turns out ok

I work at Honda.

The dealerships will do anything for you. Employee handbook - "remember that the we rely on the customer, the customer does not rely on us." If you ask them for something and they say they cannot do it for some reason, just keep insisting and you will get your way.

When I take my car in, I have the service writer closely inspect my EP and state in writing that there is no damage. This probably has earned me the reputation of being a *****, but I don't care. Also, they refuse to keep my car overnight, but that is a small price to pay to keep the lot boy's grubby hands off my stereo. Personally, I think you should affirm your desire to maintain the appearance of your car.

update: called the dealer today. The service rep told me the head is off the car and at the machine shop being checked.

But they only started to take it apart yesterday! It was sitting the whole day monday waiting for an open hoist (promised that it would be ready yesterday afternoon)

I thought when you make an appointment with the dealer, should'nt they start working on the car the day you bring it in?

He told me, hopefully it will be ready tommorow *IF* theres nothing else that needs to be replaced (other than the headgasket).

Chill, you want it done yesterday or done right? There is sometimes an unforseen problem. Let them fix it right and then worry about the finished product.

ps: Mr.Plow, I too love "The Simpsons", but **** you with your jackass dealer comment. Go back to studying your grade 8 math, kid.

I would not rush them bro. If you are a ***** to the dealership they will not give you any breaks in the future.

I have always been cool with my dealership and they have helped me every inch of the way. They have replaced my motor for free, and are great guys/girls to deal with.

After acura care exteneded warranty canceled my warranty, I was looking at 3000.00 worth of parts and labor to get my tranny fixed due to syncros and my basic warranty was up.

Bell Acura in Arizona went far above the customer satisfaction goal and took it upon themselves to cover my tranny. They all love my car and I don't ever give them **** about time or hassle them about little things.

Like I said let them take all the time they want on the car so they can fix it right, and not be rushed.

And on a side note when my type S was getting inspected and repaired Bell Acura gave me a brand new TSX with 28 miles on it as a loaner car for 2 weeks.

No, I will not rush the dealer. The last thing I want is the service rep to tell the mechanic to just quickly put everything back together, etc.

However, its never a good practice to overpromise and underdeliver to a customer.

update: just received a call from the service rep. The head just got back to the dealer from the machine shop, it had to be plained to eliminate any possibilities for the oil leak, it was hinted the head might've been a bit warped. However they will put everything back together tommorow as time permits for today.

So, if all goes well I will get my car back tommorow (sometime in the afternoon).

Praying that it will run properly
