average life of a bike
No answer to that one, it's to broad.
Depends on who made it, who rides it, the climate it's in, etc.
You could kill a bike in 5000 miles, or the same bike could last 50,000 miles it all depends.
Cheers,
Sean

A friend of my neighbor has a 95 Yamaha and he just took it to Chapparal for its 100,000 mile service. Still runs like a champ. I guess they are like any other vehicle,as long as you maintain and take care of it, it will last a very long time.
It also depends on how you ride it, if you revving it to 15,000 rpm on a daily basis this is gonna put alot of wear on it. If you ride the bike VERY hard i would say they last about 3 years or so...

a lot of bikes get written off before they get too old. that's why insurance rates in socal is so much $$$. There's like three dealers within an hrs drive from my house that specialize in salvaged bikes (dropped bikes that were fixed up and sold for cheap).
