Oil filter size?
i went to the stealership last week and picked up and oil filter. I changed my oil today and noticed that the oil filter that they gave me was a lot smaller than the normal oil filters i have been using. Is this a good or bad thing?
Good or bad? not good, not bad.
The smaller filter seems to become a restriction in the oiling system.
For normal usage this is fine. For racing however....
i prefer to use the larger size, but from what i hear they are trying to only sell
the smaller one from now on. Time to go to non honda i guess.

if you want OEM.. you can move to the s2000 oil filter.. which is the same size as the previous 'larger' filters, and has been examined to be identical to the HAMP filters made by toyo-roki.. if you can get it for a reasonable price that is.. i know that manhonda.com now sells a case of 10 for 55..
Well,.I'm looking to get some Filters as well!
do most normally use OEM Acura filters?
Whats up w/ the HAMP ones,..and people using DC5 ones?
Which ones should i buy if the previous owner on my ITR used all OEM parts,..as long as I use the same Oil I'm coo right?
Please fill me in on what to start using! SEARCh is fucked!

It is normal. Honda has gone to a smaller filter on all 4 cylinder cars. It suppose to give better oil pressure for the vtec. I suspect they copied Toyota's design because the 00-04 Celica also used a tiny oil filter inorder to get enough oil pressure for the VVTL-I.

Most people are checking oil pressure before the filter.
If pressure goes up there, what does that tell you about how much is going to the head?
I would like to see pressure readings before/after taken at the head.
